The investments in the site, totaling €21 million for a new bottling plant and warehouse and logistics hall, not only create jobs, the traditional brewery also makes a significant contribution to value creation in Carinthia. The Hirter family, which is 100% group-free and economically and financially independent, is sending out a strong signal for the regional economy and the preservation of the traditional art of brewing in Carinthia.

Regional barley for regional beer enjoyment

The Hirter beer variety is characterized by regional raw materials and genuine craftsmanship. At a time when independent private breweries in Carinthia have almost completely disappeared, the Hirt private brewery proudly stands for its independence and the heritage of the region. As the only remaining independent medium-sized private brewery in Carinthia, the brewery bears an enormous responsibility for preserving regional brewing tradition and identity.

In Hirt, a significant proportion of the malting barley comes from Austrian cultivation. Since 2012, the traditional brewery has been working closely with around 15 regional farmers who grow barley in a three-year crop rotation (partly on agricultural land belonging to the Hirt private brewery).

A sign of sustainability and regional responsibility

The new 5,200 m² warehouse and logistics hall embodies the brewery's philosophy of sustainable and grandchild-friendly management. Built from over 2,000 solid cubic meters of regional wood, some of it from the Hirter forest, this hall stands for the responsible use of resources and emphasizes the importance of regional value creation. A 680 kWp photovoltaic system on the roof contributes to the fact that the entire site generates 80% of its own electricity requirements from renewable sources, a significant contribution to independence.
