Hartl's Hof
- Farm Stay
About Us
Our farm is situated at 837 m above sea level with a beautiful view over the Gurgltal. Hartl's farm is managed by the fourth generation. Our family has been farming for over 100 years. A species-appropriate animal husbandry and a careful treatment of our environment were finally the main reasons to change our farm to "organic". It is important to us to cultivate the soil and fields in such a way that they can produce healthy food for future generations. Regionality and seasonality - living and working in harmony with nature.

organic - cattle - rare breed of farm animals original Tyrolean grey cattle
The Tiroler Grauvieh is a robust breed that has adapted excellently to our alpine region. The cows are very suitable for off-road use and, due to their size and weight, are ideal for the gentle management of meadows and pastures. Our cows live in species-appropriate suckler cow husbandry. The cow's milk belongs to the calf.
Organic chickens
We love the biodiversity of our chickens. We keep Sulmtaler, Appenzeller, Braune, Grünleger and of course the one or other rooster for a natural balance in the group. The hens have the possibility to arrange their day by themselves, be it in our stable where they lay eggs, eat and sleep, in the roofed winter garden or when running free on the meadow where they peck, scratch and sunbathe. Our happy organic chickens have far more space to run and hutch than their conspecifics from conventional high performance fattening farms.
Organic outdoor pigs
Our pig breeds are a cross between Swabian-Helmese and Duroc. They are kept from spring to late autumn in the beautiful Gurgltal in free range with their own wooden huts. There they can rummage and wallow to their heart's content, as this is the only way the pigs feel "sauwohl" and can live out their natural instincts. Our pigs live in a family unit - just as it corresponds to their species-appropriate way of life. Due to the many movements they produce intramuscular fat, which leads to very tasty and perfectly marbled meat quality. The darker colour of the pork is also a primary indication that it is a grazing pig, as conventional pork is much lighter.
