As the eldest son of four children, Johann Schöffmann was given the path of his own life in the cradle: taking over his parents' farm. And that was just the beginning of a big picture. Johann and his wife Evelyn realized early on that renting out the farm was an ideal complement to farming. They have therefore been a member of Farm holidays with their farm since it was founded in the early 1990s and still look back gratefully on the opportunity to be part of this "big family". Today, they are happy that their daughter Christiane also shares their love of farming and letting. As a trained confectioner, she always found it difficult to leave home. Until she made a decision. And finally stayed.

Growing up on their parents' farm, Christiane and her three sisters have always had guests as a positive influence on their adolescence. They were never alone. There were always guest children to play with. Even today, the already good friends keep coming back, with the difference that they now bring their own family with them.

Mom, do I really have to go to the lake?

At the Pleschinhof, the youngest guests in particular are allowed to lend a hand. The first day of their vacation starts with the search for their own breakfast egg. "The children often prefer to stay at the farm than go on excursions with their parents," says Christiane with a smile on her face. "The parents often don't see the children for half the day. The little ones go with me to the horses and into the stable. They fetch the horses from the pasture themselves and groom them." Afterwards, Christiane and the horses go into the forest or out into the fields - there's nothing better than a ride in the great outdoors. The animals are used to the guests and love to be stroked. At Pleschinhof, children can be involved everywhere and of course the animals are a must, says Christiane. "We still have a living farm, and our guests really like that. They can be there and accompany us in our everyday lives - experience how we live".

Of course, parents also get their money's worth at the Vitalbauernhof. The Pleschinhof is located at 900m above sea level, above the fog line. "900m is the ideal altitude to relax. Everyone sleeps well here, really everyone," says Johann. A relaxing day at the Pleschinhof starts with a balanced breakfast with food from our own production and a wonderful panoramic view of the Karawanken and Julian Alps. Afterwards, it's up to you whether you go on an extensive hike or take a dip in the cool waters of Lake Wörthersee. Some prefer to stay on the farm with a good glass of homemade cider or enjoy the hotel's own sauna area. "The guests spend a lot of time together as well as with me and my family. But everyone still has their own personal retreat in their own vacation apartment," says Christiane proudly.

Indulgence from Carinthia

It all started for Johann Schöffmann a few years ago with cider and apple juice. But he was always looking for a new challenge. In 2000, he had the idea of growing wine at 900 meters above sea level. Because there is never a lack of sun here. So he attended a wine course. "It always appealed to me when someone said that something couldn't be done," says Johann, smiling as he thinks back to the early days. Just a few years after starting viticulture, he recorded his first successes. Nevertheless, he sees wine as more of a hobby, with which he adds another facet to the culinary offering at Pleschinhof. Because Johann knows one thing for sure: "Guests are placing more and more value on regional and sustainably produced food." The specialties produced on the farm satisfy guests' longing for honest and authentic products. In order to make the high quality and guaranteed origin from Carinthia visible, the Schöffmann family has been using the "Genussland Kärnten" brand for years. At Pleschinhof, the smoked sausages, apple juice, cider, liqueurs and wine are all certified according to strict quality and origin criteria. Enjoyment from Carinthia with a clear conscience is guaranteed with the "Genussland Kärnten" brand. Because where it says "Genussland Kärnten", trust IS better.

Strength lies in tranquillity

Guests come to the Pleschinhof for an average of 3 weeks in summer. In winter and over New Year's Eve, family vacations are also popular at the Pleschinhof. The Almhaus Pleschinhof is also part of the farm and is located directly on the ski slope on the Hochrindl. Bookings are usually made 1 year in advance. Johann immediately recalls a fitting anecdote: "My wife came to me a few years ago and told me that new guests had emailed asking for a sandpit. I told her to write that we had a pile of sand - still from the renovation". The guests are still coming today. The children have grown up with Christiane and are now visiting the Pleschinhof with their own offspring.
