A paradise for all animal lovers: The children's stable - the new home of the small animals - ensures special animal experiences for young and old alike - and every house guest is warmly welcome there at any time.
Our farm is located in a beautiful, sunny valley location and offers a magnificent view of the Gastein mountains. Right behind the horse stable there are beautiful walking paths that invite you to hike, jog, and cycle. Supermarkets, mountain railways, and thermal baths (discounted admission for our guests) are only a few minutes' drive away from us or can also be easily reached by bicycle.
Animal lovers will fully get their money's worth on our farm, which is operated all year round: Dairy cows, calves, pigs, goats, cats, rabbits, ponies, chickens, runner ducks, Noriker horses, and our herding dogs.
You are welcome to order a breakfast basket - filled mostly with products from the farm and the region. And the new scented garden and raised beds always invite you to visit as well.
The certified children's farm in the Gastein Valley, Bad Hofgastein: Children have access to a secured children's playground with a covered sandbox, a playhouse, swing, play street for little builders, giant go-karts, slide, horse seesaw, trampoline, table tennis, a fleet of toy vehicles, and plenty of deck chairs.
Cow retirement home since the end of 2018 – species-appropriate animal husbandry has always been important to us, which is why we have invested in even more comfort for our animals.

Arrival by train is possible (nearest train station Bad Hofgastein 6 km, Bad Gastein 5 km away)
From the bus stop (Schmiedgasse) to us: approx. 6 minutes on foot, or we can organize a taxi; buses normally run on weekdays and on weekends/holidays
Federal bus runs 7 times a day, city bus 4 times a day, also on weekends and holidays
In our municipality, the following mobility offers are available: Partially free transport with the Gastein Card
The nearest dining options are a 3-minute walk away: Farm shop directly at the farm, inns in the immediate vicinity, and a pizzeria just a 3-minute walk away. Austrian inns are only 10 to 20 minutes away on foot

Winter in the Gastein Valley offers a very special charm: the snow-covered winter landscape, the flair of a 400-year-old farmhouse, the family atmosphere and numerous opportunities to make your winter holiday exciting: from cross-country skiing, alpine skiing, and snowshoeing to the relaxing thermal baths, everything is right on your doorstep.
Exclusive for Zittrauerhof guests: during certain periods, we offer affordable ski pass packages; in addition, as our house guest, you receive the day ticket for the Alpentherme at a discounted price from April to December. Special healing gallery packages and time-out offers for women!

The children's petting stable - the new home of the small animals - ensures special animal experiences for all ages. Upon request, animal walks with the donkey, pony, or goats in the snow are gladly possible. Snowshoes, toboggans, and sledges can be borrowed free of charge.

In the cozy kitchen of our farmhouse, farmer Katharina lovingly conjures up true culinary delights. In doing so, we place the utmost value on the highest quality, freshness, and genuine authenticity. You can purchase numerous of our own farm specialties as well as hand-picked products from regional partner businesses in our charming little farm shop for your enjoyment.
The magnificent garden with its raised beds and the traditional processing of the harvest are Katharina's pride and joy. In summer and autumn, we harvest plenty of sun-ripened fruit and vegetables here, which are processed fresh or carefully preserved as tasty supplies for the winter months.
The power of nature is also highly valued by us: the ancient, valuable knowledge about the effects of local medicinal herbs and their processing into soothing ointments and tinctures is kept alive at the Zittrauerhof. As a special highlight, our house guests have their own herb bed for free use directly at the house – perfect for refining your holiday kitchen with fresh aromas!
Country air with a difference: Our fragrant garden to recharge your batteries
An oasis for all the senses awaits you at our certified 4-flower farm in the picturesque Gastein Valley. Katharina's lovingly designed fragrant garden will enchant you from spring until the golden autumn. Together with a landscape gardener, a harmonious variety of fragrant blossoms and aromatic herbs was planted here, allowing body and mind to gently come to rest. Take a seat on the cozy wooden bench, close your eyes, and let your soul dangle. The natural essential scents act like balm for the soul, while the cheerful humming of bees and the fluttering of colorful butterflies reflect the vibrant biodiversity of our farm. In addition, twice a week you have the opportunity to take part in an inspiring guided tour of a magnificently landscaped herb garden during a short, idyllic hike.
Animals
At the Zittrauerhof, many animals live year-round; we run a real working farm with dairy farming and horse breeding. Not only cows and horses make their home here, but also many small animals. Daily, you can watch the milking and help with feeding the animals. Icelandic mare Kelly, the stallion Amigo, our Noriker mares, and mini mare Jasmyne - the absolute favorite, especially among the girls, Rita the donkey, the pigs and chickens, the goats, bunnies, runner ducks - are always happy to receive some attention.
In the new children's barn, built under professional pedagogical guidance, animal experiences are guaranteed - admission is included exclusively for our house guests.
A special experience for young and old: Trekking or walks with a goat or pony are gladly available from Monday to Friday.
In summer, some of the cows and heifers as well as the large Noriker horses go on summer holiday - to our high-altitude alpine pasture (mid-June to late August). During this time, you will get fresh alpine milk for breakfast!!!
