About Us
Wallmanhütte sits at around 1,200 meters above sea level, nestled in the idyllic alpine pasture area of the Spielbergalm in Tennengau, Salzburger Land. Just a few kilometers from the village center of Krispl-Gaissau, you are surrounded by meadows, forests, and complete tranquility. Despite the peaceful setting, you can reach Salzburg City and the Salzkammergut region in less than an hour – perfect for day trips!
🪵 A Cabin with Heart, History & Craftsmanship
Our traditional self-catering hut was built in the year 2000 by us, Christine & Andreas, with the help of family and friends. Nearly everything is made from wood. The furniture, doors, and many small details were handcrafted by our grandfather using local spruce and fir trees. Everything is unique and lovingly built in harmony with alpine traditions.
The hut comfortably accommodates up to 12 people:
🛏️ 3 bedrooms with double and bunk beds
🛁 2 bathrooms with shower and toilet
🔥 A large cozy living area with wood-burning stove, kitchenette & oven
🪑 A sitting area and sofa for relaxing
Outside you’ll find a large wooden sunbed and a charcoal grill – perfect for summer evenings under the stars.
🌿 Summer on the Alm – Pure Relaxation
In summer, Wallmanhütte is a peaceful paradise for families, nature lovers, and those seeking to disconnect. Hiking trails start right at the doorstep – whether you prefer a relaxed stroll to the next hut or a challenging summit hike. Wild herbs grow on the surrounding alpine meadows, and we offer a selection of homemade herbal products for sale.
It’s also the ideal place for yoga retreats, mountain bikers, or simply anyone looking for digital detox and mountain peace.
❄️ Winter Escape in Gaißau – A Haven for Ski Tourers
In winter, the Wallmanhütte is best reached in about one hour on foot, ideally with snowshoes or touring skis. The hut lies directly along a popular ascent route to the Wieserhörndl summit – a real highlight for ski touring enthusiasts and winter hikers.
After a day in the snow, the cozy wood-fired living room awaits you with warmth and charm. Upon request, we’ll organize luggage transport so you can travel light and stress-free.
🐄 Rare Breeds & Friendly Farm Animals
Just a short walk from the hut, you'll find our farm, where we care for endangered heritage livestock breeds – including cows, calves, a bull, chickens, ducks, bees, dogs, and cats. A wonderful experience, especially for children!
If you're looking for a genuine, peaceful alpine hut with tradition, charm, and unspoiled nature – Wallmanhütte is the place for you.
Here, you'll find space to slow down and reconnect with what really matters.

Alpine room
4 - 12 People
The Wallmanhütte offers around 100 m² of cozy living space for 4 to 12 guests. On the ground floor, you'll find a rustic kitchen-living area with a traditional wood-burning stove, oven, two dining areas, and a sofa for relaxing. The bathroom is equipped with a shower, sink, and toilet – towels are included.
Upstairs, there are three charming bedrooms, each featuring one double bed and one bunk bed. Thanks to the traditional timber construction and heating via "Kammerlöcher" (small openings above the wood stove), the rooms stay comfortably warm even in winter.
During the summer months, a large wooden sun lounger and a charcoal grill invite you to enjoy the peaceful outdoor setting. Children up to 3 years stay free of charge, bed linen can be rented (€ 14 per set), and luggage transport in winter is available on request.
