About Us

Gently wrapped in nature

Find the mountain cabin “s’Standl” in the middle of a sparse larch forest on the Maltaberg mountain. Great hikes (in winter ski tours) to the staffed mountain cabin “Leonhardhütte” or the top of the mountain Reitereck (2,742 m) start at the doorstep.

Great amenities

In the mountain cabin “s’Standl”, you’ll find a comfortable open-plan kitchen with wood-fired stove, a bathroom with bath stove and a separate toilet. There are three bedrooms: one bedroom on the ground floor and two additional cosy bedrooms on the upper floor, accessible via the stairs. Solar lighting makes it possible to play cards in the evening. A spring water fountain in front of the cabin serves as a natural fridge. Comfortable wooden benches in the fenced garden are nice spots to have a rest after a long hike.

Children and dogs are welcome here.

There’s lots of space and freedom to romp, play and run around the cabin and inside. Children can climb on the small rock next to the cabin.

How to reach us

An asphalt road in good condition takes you from the village of Malta 6 km up the Maltaberg mountain and directly to the mountain cabin. You can park in a fenced area in front of the cabin.

Our traditional mountain cabin “s’Standl” features a comfortable kitchen, seating corner, wood-fired stove, solar lighting, hall, toilet, bathroom with bath stove and a bedroom with 2 single beds on the ground floor. On the upper floor, there are two bedrooms with 3 double beds in total. Linen is provided. You can take in the breathtaking view of the beautiful Maltatal valley from the seats in front of the cabin next to the barbecue area and spring water fountain!

Arrival

* Take the exit “Gmünd” from the highway A10.

* In Gmünd, the “town of art & artists”, continue in the direction of Malta.

* After having passed the village sign of Malta, continue straight ahead to the local bank “Raiffeisen Bank”.

* There, turn right and drive to the church.

* It’s another 5 km in the direction of Maltaberg until you’ve reached our farm “Steinacherhof”.

We will meet you there and guide the way to our mountain cabin.
