About Us
The newly erected eco holiday chalet is situated on a sunny hillside and has everything to offer in the sphere of comfortable living and healthy sleeping. Built from spruce timber felled according to phases of the moon, its inner walls being partly clad with clay plaster, this chalet invites you to escape from your everyday life. Upon opening the front door you are met by incomparable flair and the aroma of wood from our own forest. The chalet is fitted out with high-quality oil-treated floors, doors, beds and other furniture items made in our own joinery. Come and get an intimate experience of this fascinating wood - from the small forest seedling to the finished piece of furniture!
The holiday chalet, situated on the fringe of the Salzkammergut, near the Kalkalpen National Park, is idyllically set among lush-green pasturelands. It offers breathtaking views of pastures interspersed with fruit trees, as well as of the forested slopes of Steinbach and our own mountain, the Mittagstein. A best kept secret for hikers is Steinberg at the Ziehberg, where 11 well-signposted (circular) hiking trails of various degrees of difficulty, offer the perfect hiking experience. The village also offers newly laid out cycling and horse riding trails.
Many more attractive sightseeing destinations can be visited within a radius of c. 30 km, such as the Traunsee town Gmunden, the Cumberland Game Park Grunau, the Kalkalpen National Park, enjoyment along the Alm River, the Schlierbach and Kremsmunster Monasteries, as well as some unique museums, e.g. the Crime Museum, the Scythe Smiths' Museum and the Publications Museum.
Management of our two-faceted BIO-industry
Alongside of suckler cows and ewes on our pasturelands, we run a solid-wood joinery in which most of our timber is processed. Get a live experience of this. Sense the harmony existing among wood, nature and our animals.
What we have to offer through the year
In spring the pasture fences are fixed. From spring through to autumn you are welcome to visit our suckler cow and ewe herds in the pastures, and even to help us with transferring these, if required, to another paddock. In summer you may also personally be present when we harvest our hay! During autumn, amongst other things, apples and pears are harvested to be turned into dried fruit, juice or cider. In late autumn our cattle and sheep are brought from the pastures to their exercise pens, where they are fed daily. Also, from late autumn through to winter, trees that have beforehand been personally selected for specific purposes by the master joiner on his walks through the forest, are harvested at the correct time in accordance with the phases of the moon. Additionally, timber and firewood are harvested for own use.
To ensure forest sustainability, the tending of young forest stands may not be neglected. In our solid-wood joinery we sustainably produce furniture, doors, etc., throughout the year. If you are interested, you may observe the various manual production processes, try some of the activities yourself, or even make some small souvenirs.
