Highlights
About Us
The Schwammerlhütte is quietly and idyllically situated at the edge of the forest in Krispl, in the heart of the Gaissau-Hintersee region in the beautiful Salzburger Land. Surrounded by green meadows, dense forests, and an impressive mountain backdrop, you will find the ideal place for relaxation and enjoyment of nature – far from the hustle and bustle, yet full of possibilities.
The rustic alpine hut is ideal for families or small groups of up to five people. Two cozy bedrooms in traditional style, a well-equipped kitchen with a coffee machine, toaster, kettle, and dishwasher, as well as a wonderfully warm pellet stove, ensure a relaxing getaway. A television and DVD player are available for cozy evenings.
Adventure, fun, and plenty of nature
Many animals live in the vicinity of the hut, which you can discover on your walks or hikes: cows, horses – and with a bit of luck, even deer or hares. Observing animals is a great nature experience, especially for children.
Culinary, the region has a lot to offer: In the surrounding alpine huts and farm shops, you can get regional specialties such as fresh alpine cheese, bacon, farmhouse bread, butter, or homemade jams – perfect for a hearty snack on the terrace or as a souvenir to take home.
In summer
In summer, the mountains around Krispl-Gaissau invite you to hike, climb, or mountain bike. There are tours for all levels of difficulty – from leisurely family hikes to challenging summit tours. E-bike rental with a charging station is available directly in Gaissau. Lakes in the area, such as Hintersee or Wiestalstausee, provide refreshment.
In winter
In winter, enjoy romantic snow walks, snowshoeing, or ski tours in the snow-covered landscape of the Salzburger Land. Sledding runs, cross-country ski trails, and small ski lifts in the area offer additional opportunities for winter sports away from the large ski resorts.
And if the weather doesn't cooperate, a trip to the Mozart city of Salzburg or to the region's numerous attractions is worthwhile: the Eisriesenwelt ice caves in Werfen, the Hallein Salt Mine, the Kehlsteinhaus, or Hellbrunn Palace. With the Tennengau Card, you receive discounted admission to many attractions.
We look forward to your visit to the Gaissau-Hintersee holiday region!

The kitchen includes a 2-burner range (no oven), toaster, coffeemaker, crockery, cutlery, pots & pans etc., along with tabs for the dishwasher. The bathroom features a shower (hand- and shower towels for stays of 3 nights or longer, otherwise hand towels only) as well as a separate toilet.
Our hut is heated by a pellet stove, with electric heating in the bathroom. The two separate bedrooms are furnished in a typical country style. In the main bedroom, you have a double bed and wardrobe, while in the children’s room with bunkbeds there is also plenty of room to store your clothing. If needed, you can also request a child’s travel bed from us.
Thanks to a television, you will never have to miss your favorite show. We also provide a DVD player for your convenience.
During the warmer season, we definitely recommend spending time out on our terrace with grill equipment (only possible in summer). There you will find new garden furniture including two recliners. Prices include local taxes and final cleaning.
