The Family-Friendly Castle With the Charms of a Farm
Vacation in the castle - anything else is ordinary, especially if cows, goats and many other animals frolic around at the meadow around the historical building. The Rieder family is welcoming you for a relaxing and family-friendly vacation on the farm in Zell am See - Kaprun. You dwell directly in the castle, , one of the oldest buildings in Pinzgau, in comfortable and roomy apartments with traditional aura and modern amenities.
Comfortable on the Farm
Start your day with a rich breakfast with homemade farm products from a self-service fridge (24 hours open) or the bread delivery service by your hosts. Collect your daily breakfast egg directly from the hens nests and enjoy a healthy glass of milk. That is pure nature. Numerous services ameliorate your vacation on the farm in Maishofen. Together with cozy wellness relaxation and much room for families you experience the unique enjoyment of hearty and personal service. On our farm children may look behind the scenes and get involved. The animals are waiting to get fed and caressed.
A Dream in Every Season
One of the best features of the Saalhof Castle is its picturesque standalone location between gentle grassy hills and steep mountains. Beautiful hiking trails are just a few minutes from the castle. In the summer you can explore gentle terrain by bike or steep mountains by foot. Afterwards a refreshing swim in nearby Lake Zell is perfect! You have free access to Maishofen beach at lake Zell. The cable cars to the glacier Weißsee and Loferer Almenwelt are included 1x during your stay.

Take a break from the daily routine in our modern wellness-area.
Relax and enjoy the warmth in our two outside "Sauna Barrels", our infrared-sauna for 4 persons or our classical Finnish sauna for 10 persons.
Our relaxation room and terrace are fitted with sunloungers made out of massive natural wood and are directly nearby the outside Sauna facilities. The large picture window offers a great view of the "Hohe Tauern" National Park.
The panoramic terrace and lawn with the castle well offers many relaxing loungers.
We always welcome children on our farm:
* Playground with an adventure playground
* Large trampoline *Treehouse with rope bridge
* Many pedal tractors, vehicles and sand toys
* Petting animals such as goats and rabbits and dogs
* Children can ride on our horse, Simone
* Daily from 5 pm - the cows are driven to the barn, followed by feeding
* This is where the eggs for breakfast come from: Eggs are collected daily in the morning

Our ski regions:
- Ski circus Saalbach-Hinterglemm,
- Schmittenhöhe in Zell am See (5 minutes away)
- and the glacial skiing region in Kaprun by Kitzsteinhorn (15 minutes away).
The free ski bus will pick you up from your house door.
Or you can directly enter the extensive network of cross-country ski tracks next to our farmyard. Even the toboggan run adds to the whole winter fun time.

Our products from the 24h self-service farm fridge: cheese, 14 different jams and jellies, syrup, honey, schnapps and liqueurs, smoked ham / bacon, apple juice, ... yum, that tastes twice as good!
Our tipp for early birds: Collect your daily brekfast egg directly from the hen´s nests every morning at 8 am with our grandma.
Beef and veal in 5 or 10kg packages are available on request once per month.
Our fresh milk is always free of charge for our guests: Please take the glass jug from your fridge and get the milk yourself from the stable after a short briefing.
The fresh herbs from our garden can be taken for your healthy daily dinner.
In each apartment there is a soda stream to bubble up our mountain spring water directly from the tap. We are happy to change empty gas cartridges at any time.
This is a further contribution to sustainability to avoid plastic bottles. We also sell syrups diluted 1:7: lemon balm, elderflower, homemade cola syrup from the colast bush in our garden, golden balm. Just bubble your own cola or soda.
Our animals:
20 Cows, calves, 15 chickens, the cat Mietzie, the goat Loisi with her young and the rabbits Strolchi, Punkti, Flecki and Blacky. The cows and calves, rabbits and goats, are happy if you help the farmers with spreading hay, feeding, or milking!
The daily egg collection is an attraction! The young animals graze on our alpine meadow at an altitude of 1400-2000 m and are visited once a week by everyone in July and August! Register to our weekly alpine hike immediately after your arrival!
