In the middle of the beautiful Steyrtal valley, on the edge of the Kalkalpen National Park, lies our Salmannerhof – surrounded by green meadows, forests, and a magnificent view of the mountains. Here, everyday life is allowed to take a break.
Children can experience real farm life first-hand: caring for cows and calves, petting ponies, feeding rabbits, collecting eggs from the chickens, cuddling with cats and kittens, romping in the hay, riding on a tractor, or simply playing to their heart's content. Meanwhile, parents will find something that is often neglected in everyday life: time. Time to breathe deeply, to switch off, and to enjoy.Because time is the greatest luxury!
Waking up in the morning to the sound of birds singing, walking barefoot through the grass, enjoying the scent of forests and meadows, and ending the day in the evening together with us and other guests comfortably on the garden bench – it is precisely these small, genuine moments that make a farm holiday so special. Many of our guests tell us that they can really ground themselves and find peace here. That is why they like to stay a little longer – and thanks to our new long-stay discount, it is now also financially worthwhile.
From experience, we know: the most beautiful holiday memories are not made in a weekend. It is only when you can truly arrive and feel almost at home that the deep relaxation we so often yearn for in everyday life sets in. That is why outside of the peak season (July and August), we are offering you a 10% discount on your entire stay for bookings of 5 nights or more. This leaves more time for peace, nature, and all those small moments that will be remembered for a long time.
Our lovingly furnished holiday apartments with solid wood furniture provide the perfect retreat for relaxing holiday days. In addition to the many experiences in the stable, a large garden with a playground, swimming pool, various children's vehicles, and go-karts, as well as our play barn, invite you to play, discover, and simply be a child to your heart's content.
The Salmannerhof is also the ideal starting point for hikes, bike rides, and walks – for example, along the Steyrtal Cycle Path or into the impressive nature of the Kalkalpen National Park.

Around the farm, there is plenty of space for sledding, hiking, learning to ski, and playing in the snow. The family-friendly Molln ski area is just 15 minutes away, while the larger ski areas of Hinterstoder and Wurzeralm can be reached in about 45 minutes.
Children can experience real farm life up close: feeding cows and calves, petting ponies, feeding rabbits, collecting eggs, cuddling with cats and kittens, romping in the hay, riding the tractor, or simply playing to their heart's content. Sustainability
Those who live on a farm do not think in years, but in generations. For us, sustainability is therefore not a new trend word, but has always been a part of our daily actions.
Hardly any other form of holiday combines regionality, short distances, and a lived circular economy as naturally as a farm holiday. That is why this way of holidaying is probably one of the most sustainable of all. But we want to go one step further: For us, sustainability means above all giving more value to what already exists, using machinery and buildings for as long as possible, and handling our resources responsibly. Because we are convinced that what is used for a long time is usually more sustainable than a supposedly "green" new purchase.
Our farm is heated with wood chips from our own forest. A solar thermal system as well as a large photovoltaic system with buffer storage enable us to generate a large part of our energy ourselves and use it optimally. Our water comes from our own well on the farm and, after use, is returned to our own meadows – natural cycles as they have been lived on farms for generations.
We also pay attention to a conscious use of resources in everyday life. Waste avoidance is a matter of course for us in agriculture, the household, and the rental business. Currently, we are gradually transitioning the cleaning of our holiday apartments to a virtually chemical-free cleaning method using micro-dry steam. Where cleaning agents are necessary, we use exclusively eco-certified products – the same applies to washing our bed linen and towels.
One of our holiday apartments was built as a cozy log cabin, and all apartments are equipped with durable solid wood furniture. We also pay attention to choosing the most sustainable options possible for consumable items.
With our daily work, we also contribute to preserving the unique cultural landscape of the Steyr Valley – a landscape that has grown over generations and which we want to continue to preserve.
Because true sustainability does not begin with a trend – but with the responsibility for what we will one day pass on to our children.

Mountain Retreat

Our “Mountain Retreat" is located on the 2nd floor of the square farm and features its own private balcony, which invites you to relax and offers a magnificent view of the surrounding mountains. Spanning around 75 m², you can expect a cozy kitchen-living area, two bedrooms (2x double bed), a newly renovated bathroom with WC, a new anteroom with an inviting living area, as well as the sunny balcony. The kitchen is fully equipped – with a refrigerator, freezer compartment, stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, sink, filter coffee machine, kettle, as well as dishes, cutlery, pots, pans, and all essential cooking utensils. For stays of 5 nights or more, you receive a 10% discount on the total accommodation price! (only valid during the low season)

Our “Mountain Cabin” is located in the annex and radiates a very special feel-good atmosphere thanks to its cozy log cabin construction. It also features its own large terrace, which invites you to enjoy extensive sunbathing. Across around 100 m², you can expect a fully equipped kitchen, a cozy parlor, three separate bedrooms (2x double bed, 1x two single beds), a bathroom with a bathtub and bidet, a separate toilet, two anterooms, and the sunny terrace. The kitchen is fully equipped – with a refrigerator, freezer compartment, stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, sink, filter coffee machine, kettle, as well as dishes, cutlery, pots, pans, and all essential cooking utensils. For stays of 5 nights or more, you receive a 10% discount on the total accommodation price! (only valid during the low season)
