About Us
Welcome to the ‘Zuahaus’ – a holiday next to our farm
Our ‘Zuahaus’ was built between 2022 and 2026 with great attention to detail. With its cosy, traditional style and solid timber construction, it invites you to relax and feel at home. Surrounded by meadows, woods and mountains, you can enjoy the fresh country air, the open spaces of our farm and the beautiful natural surroundings.
Hospitality is a tradition here
For over 50 years, Jakob’s family has been running a youth hostel on our farm that accommodates up to 50 people. Hospitality has been deeply rooted here for generations.
As the youth hostel is located right next to the “Zuahaus”, we also host larger groups there. This means things can get a bit livelier at times. We cannot therefore guarantee a consistently quiet atmosphere. As the groups change regularly, it is not possible to predict the level of background noise in advance. We want to be open about this so that you know what to expect.
Cosy accommodation where you’ll feel right at home
On the ground floor, there is a spacious holiday flat with two bathrooms, sleeping up to five people, as well as two cosy studios, each sleeping two people. A video-monitored ski room with ski boot warmers and a washing machine (for a fee) are available.
Experience nature – whatever the season
Walks, hikes and cycle rides start right on our doorstep.
A special summer highlight is the free Alpbachtal Card! It gives you unlimited free travel on four summer mountain cable cars in the Alpbachtal and Wildschönau, as well as numerous other free offers and discounts.
The nearby Reintalersee lake is perfect for swimming in summer. Our farm is situated amidst numerous ski areas, so in winter you can reach the Wilder Kaiser – Brixental, Ski Juwel Alpbachtal – Wildschönau and Zillertal ski areas in around 15 to 30 minutes. In the neighbouring village of Angerberg, there is a practice lift for beginners.
Fun, games and cosy moments on the farm
A trampoline and a football pitch set up in summer provide space to let off steam. Our fire pit is perfect for cosy evenings. In bad weather, there’s a communal games room in the farmhouse with table tennis and table football.
Experience farm life up close
On our adjoining farm, you’ll find our miniature horses Fini & Ilsa, rabbits, ducks, pigs, chickens, calves, cats and our dog Ina.
Children can watch our animals, feed the rabbits and, with a bit of luck, spot a freshly laid egg. If the work in the stables and time allow, they can also join in feeding the calves.
This way, they can experience real farm life – with all its animals, sounds and daily routines – as part of their stay.

Our organic game hens - natural and sustainable
Our focus is on the production of high-quality organic game hens. Our chickens belong to a slow-growing breed and grow up in the wild - in our free-range barn. They develop over 10 weeks without the use of growth promoters or antibiotics. This slow rearing and the generous amount of free range ensure a particularly intense aroma and tender, juicy meat - hence our motto: enjoy chicken with a clear conscience and know where it comes from.
As a certified organic farm, we attach great importance to species-appropriate animal husbandry and the highest quality. We always have frozen chicken meat and fresh eggs in stock for our guests so that you can enjoy our products at any time.

Our passion: animal welfare and quality combined
On our farm, everything revolves around the welfare of our animals and the production of top-quality meat. With love and respect for nature, we have specialized in organic wild chickens and sustainable rearing of young cattle. The calves from our partner organic farms grow up in a species-appropriate environment, enjoy the summer on the mountain pastures and return to their original farmer strengthened before calving.
Focus on regionality and sustainability
For us, regionality is more than just a promise - it is the core of our philosophy. We reject long animal transports, especially to countries outside Europe. Instead, we focus on short distances that benefit animal welfare and the environment in equal measure.
Diversity on our farm
Our farm is not only a place for high-quality food, but also home to a variety of animals, as biodiversity is very important to us. In addition to our wild chickens, we have calves, yearlings, laying hens, pigs, goats, sheep, ducks, hares, rabbits, a cat and our loyal dog Ina. Together they create a unique farm life that makes your stay with us a special experience.

The cosy, spacious "d'kloané Mühle" apartment on the ground floor has a fully equipped kitchen with oven, induction hob, extractor fan, dishwasher, fridge with freezer compartment, capsule and filter coffee machine, kettle, toaster, SodaStream and a selection of spices.
A double bedroom with TV and DVD player ensures a restful night's sleep. The modern bathroom has a spacious shower; hand and bath towels and a hairdryer are included, and can be changed on request. The toilet is separate.
The large living room offers plenty of space to relax, as well as a comfortable divan with a proper mattress and a flat-screen TV.
The connecting room “Dinkelzimmer” offers two single beds, a TV with DVD player, a rustic stone washbasin and a small, separate shower with WC. It has its own entrance to the outside.
Enjoy relaxing hours on the sunny terrace in the spacious garden. A sandpit, cosy fire pit and plenty of open space invite you to linger.
There is also plenty to discover on the farm: miniature horses Fini & Ilsa, farm dog Ina, cats, rabbits and – depending on the season – pigs, sheep, calves and cattle make a stay here particularly memorable for animal lovers.
For those who like to burn off energy, there is a football pitch with goals where athletes of all ages can play freely. A trampoline provides additional fun and exercise in the fresh air.
In bad weather or in the evening, our communal games room is the perfect place to relax: table tennis and table football guarantee hours of fun – table tennis bats and a small selection of board games can be found in the apartment.
A washing machine is also available in our ski room for a fee.
In the winter months, breakfast is available on request (breakfast buffet - classic breakfast) in the neighboring establishment (youth hostel annex) or bread service on request.

The holiday home comprises the ‘d’kloane Mühle’ holiday flat and the two studios, ‘Roggnkammer’ and ‘Troadkammer’, and offers plenty of space for up to 9 people to enjoy a relaxing holiday. With several bedrooms, four bathrooms and spacious living areas, it is particularly suitable for large families or groups of family and friends travelling together.
Please note: The Riedhof-Zuahaus is not a detached holiday home. We, the host family, live on the upper floor of the house in a separate flat with its own entrance. The entire guest area – comprising the holiday flat, studios, terrace and large fenced garden – is, of course, exclusively at your disposal. This means you can enjoy your privacy whilst also having a personal point of contact on site at all times should you have any questions or requests.
The large, fenced-in garden with terrace is the perfect place to relax, whilst children can explore the farm, the animals and the natural surroundings.
