Take a break

Take a break

With us, you are our only guests. We offer you the ultimate privacy. Whether it is the swimming pond, the outdoor soaking tub, the duo-bathtub and the sauna with panoramic views, or the hammock  on the 50 m² veranda, also with panoramic views – all exclusively for you. Enjoy the peace and quiet as our sole guests - as free as you are and wish to be. An additional double bed on the ground floor is also possible.

Exceptional living

Extraordinary Living

Enjoy the peace and quiet as the sole guests, as free as you are and want to be. Spacious and with far-reaching views, your domicile – look out into the landscape, almost floating from the sauna and veranda, and do your soul some good. Feel the warmth – indoor partner tub, SkyOnsen = outdoor sit-up tub, tiled stove with table stove, and an open fire pit in the garden. Swimming pond with bathing jetty and diving stone.

About Us

The Traunviertel region in the federal state of Upper Austria, with its 360° Alpine View tourism region, is our home.
Marina, a passionate farmer and midwife, and Martin, a farmer and forester, are the hosts at the namesake "Vierkanthof" (square courtyard farm). This type of farm is common in our area: all areas of farming and living are situated within four house fronts around a square courtyard.

In this secluded location, we have created a small paradise on earth: the remote former press house was converted into a modern holiday home with 120 m² of living space. It features a lift, veranda, natural swimming pond, sauna, free-standing bathtub, SkyOnsen, fully equipped kitchen with a wood-fired table stove, and a tiled stove. It serves solely as your oasis – as your refuge, your retreat to linger and stay longer. Clay plaster walls and stone pine bedding ensure a healthy sleep experience.

  • Experience natural silence – apart from the rustling of the wind in the mighty birch tree and the chirping of birds.
  • Look to the horizon: over meadows, forests, and fields all the way to the Traunstein, the landmark mountain of Upper Austria at Lake Traunsee in Gmunden, or to the Großer Priel.
  • Take advantage of the comforts of warmth and water to let go, gain distance, and recharge your batteries.
  • Step into your garden – a piece of nature just for the two of you to unwind.
  • Treat yourselves to undisturbed couple time.
  • Guests aged 16 and over are very welcome.

Away from this idyll, you can discover places like the Kremsmünster Benedictine Abbey, the historic industrial town of Steyr, the trade fair city of Wels, and Linz, the capital of Upper Austria.
The adjacent town of Bad Hall is known for its iodine-rich thermal bath (Therme) and its town theatre. The spa park invites you to take a stroll. The diverse cultural landscape can also be easily explored by bicycle or e-bike on numerous cycling paths and country lanes.

For culinary variety, you don't have to travel far – from traditional cider taverns (Mostheurige) to upscale award-winning cuisine.
Farm shops, farmers' markets, and direct farm sellers will delight those who prefer self-catering. A variety of breakfast options in a stocked fridge as well as a daily bread delivery service can also be booked.

Retreat

1 - 4 People

Welcome to Refugium Zauner! The very first steps out of the lift treat you to a view that will accompany you throughout your holiday. Cosy spots await you: the reading window in the Refugium Zauner library, the warm nest behind the tiled stove, the wingback bench at the oak table for shared meals, the hammock on the veranda, the deck chair on the bathing jetty, or the place of power by the open fire.

The modern, fully equipped kitchen invites you to cook and enjoy. While something sizzles in the pan on the stove, the wine from your wine cabinet is already breathing in the glass.

Experience a sunset on the veranda and let your gaze wander into the distance. Pamper yourself with soothing warmth in the bathroom oasis – whether in the sauna, in the double bathtub from which you can watch the stars, or in the hot outdoor tub under the open sky. Afterwards, hop under the rain shower or straight into the illuminated swimming pond for an invigorating cool-down.

Enjoy a restful sleep in the Tempur® box-spring bed. Stone pine bedding and clay plaster ensure a healthy indoor climate. Awakened by the morning sun, you will start the new day full of energy.

We welcome guests aged 16 and over.

Catering:
Organic and/or Fairtrade coffee for a JURA coffee machine as well as mineral water – still and sparkling – are available free of charge.

Upon request, you can order a stocked fridge with a variety of regional breakfast items when booking. For this, we will send you a pre-prepared shopping list with prices to fill out.
