About Us

Arrive, wind down, and experience nature!

The cabin is located on the Pirkeralm, at around 1,300 meters above sea level at the edge of the forest next to a large, lush alpine meadow. Our own organic cattle graze here and, just like you, enjoy their summer on the alpine pasture. However, the cabin and the front garden are fenced off.

On the same Oberwietingberg, or Kirchberg, and the Breitofneralm, as well as the Weißbergeralm, you will find countless hiking and forest trails as well as an inn (Forellenwirt, Uitz family), a traditional wine tavern (Liegl family, vlg. Irregger), and two managed alpine huts (Breitofnerhütte and Weißbergerhütte). These can be reached on foot, by bicycle, or by car.

If you are looking for more variety, there is a very beautiful terraced pool in Klein St. Paul, the natural Längsee lake in the municipality of St. Georgen/Längsee, an exhibition mine in Knappenberg (perfect for rainy days), and a summer toboggan run at Klippitztörl. All of this and much more can be reached by car in under 1 hour. If you prefer a stress-free shopping day in the cozy old town of St. Veit an der Glan or Klagenfurt, these urban areas are also in the immediate vicinity.

Here you can slow down and enjoy the absolute secluded location – far away from stress and hustle.

Farm products and catering

We are happy to provide you with fresh milk in 1L bottles, as well as schnapps in 0.2L bottles (distilled options of apple, plum, pear, and stone pine, as well as cherry liqueurs in 0.3L bottles) from our own organic production.

Animals

Bordering the cabin is our alpine pasture, where some of our heifers spend the summer. It is a true pleasure to watch the animals and share in their curiosity.

Please note that entering the pasture is at your own risk, and we kindly ask you not to disturb the animals. Under no circumstances are dogs allowed on the pasture!

Pirker Cabin

1 - 6 People

The cabin is divided into two rooms (a bedroom and a living-dining room).
The living and dining room features a wood-burning stove for cooking and heating, a washbasin, a cozy, spacious seating area with a table, and a sofa bed.
In the bedroom, a double bed and two bunk beds (each sleeping two) invite you to a communal sleeping experience, just as was the norm in bygone times. The bedroom is cozily and lovingly furnished.

Arrival

Our alpine hut is easy to find. 

Simply enter the address "Oberwietingberg 26, 9374 Wieting" into your navigation system and follow the directions. Once you arrive at this address, you have not yet reached your final destination. From this point, follow the signs for "Pirkerhütte" to the left along a gravel road for about 2.5 kilometers until you see another signpost on a tree indicating a right turn. Just 150 meters after turning off, you will arrive at the hut, where you will find a parking space for 2 - 3 cars. 

Coming from Vienna via Bruck an der Mur, we recommend traveling via the A2, then the S6 or S37 to Treibach-Althofen. Coming from Salzburg, Villach, or Klagenfurt, we recommend taking the A10 or A2 and then the S37, also exiting at Treibach-Althofen. From there, drive via Silberegg to Guttaring, and over the Schelmberg to Mösel. Then turn right, and after 2 kilometers, turn left again onto the Oberwietingberg (Breitofnerhütte) until you reach the address Oberwietingberg 26. Coming from Burgenland or Graz, we recommend traveling via the Klippitztörl to 4 Linden. Then turn left towards Klein St. Paul, Wieting, and after just 2.5 km, turn left again onto the Oberwietingberg (Breitofnerhütte).
