About Us
The organic farm Müllergut is located in St. Martin bei Lofer in the Salzburger Land, nestled in the impressive mountains of the Salzburger Saalachtal. Our farm is situated in a quiet, secluded location, surrounded by meadows, forests, and mountains, yet only a few minutes' walk from the village center. Lofer, Unken, and Saalfelden can be reached in a short time, and the city of Salzburg is only about 45 km away.
🐮 Experience country life up close
An authentic farm life experience awaits you at our farm. For generations, we have been running an organic dairy farm with our own young stock. Our Holstein Friesian dairy cows are the heart of our farm. In summer, many of the animals spend the warm season on our alpine pasture in the Almenwelt Lofer.
In the garden, a swing, sandbox, trampoline, and table tennis ensure play and fun. The Moosbach stream, which flows directly past the farm, invites you to cool off on hot summer days. A special highlight is our historic mill: there, the self-grown grain is ground, and fresh organic dark bread is baked every week. Depending on the season, you can enjoy bread, milk, and eggs directly from the farm.

For your vacation, we offer 3 apartments, 5 cozy rooms with breakfast, 1 chalet, and 1 alpine hut. Our apartments offer space for couples, families, and smaller groups and feature a fully equipped kitchen, a cozy dining area, bathroom, TV, and a balcony with stunning mountain views.
The cozy rooms offer space for 1 to 4 people and are equipped with Wi-Fi, TV, shower/toilet, and a balcony. Upon request, you can enjoy a rich breakfast or use the bread delivery service for your apartment.

The Müllergut has been family-owned since 1658 and was recognized as an heritage farm in 1935. As early as 1962, we converted to organic farming. Directly opposite the farm stands our historic mill, whose origins probably date back to the year 1080. Even today, we still grind our own farm-grown grain there and bake fresh bread from it – everything from the grain to the finished loaf is made by our own hands. This living tradition makes the Müllergut a special place where history, craftsmanship, and farming remain closely connected to this day.

Farm products and catering
At the Müllergut, we sow, mill, and bake. Every week, fresh organic dark bread is made from our home-grown rye and wheat. The grain is ground in our historic mill and then processed into delicious bread in the traditional way – from the grain to the finished loaf, all from our own hands.
Depending on the season and availability, you can also enjoy other farm-grown delicacies: fresh milk and eggs, savory bacon, homemade jams, and our home-distilled pear schnapps.
Start your day with enjoyment with our hearty breakfast. Look forward to fresh pastries, our own farm products, and regional specialties from the Salzburg region. Guests of our holiday apartments can make use of the bread roll service and have fresh pastries delivered directly to their accommodation every morning.
There is also a self-service refrigerator with chilled drinks in the lounge area, which you can help yourself to at any time.
Animals
On our organic farm, approximately 50 Holstein Friesian dairy cows and their calves live. The Holstein Friesian is one of the most well-known dairy breeds in the world. It is easily recognizable by its black-and-white coat pattern and impresses with its calm, balanced nature and excellent milk quality. In summer, many of our cows and calves spend the warm season on our own alpine pasture in the Almenwelt Lofer, where they can enjoy lush mountain meadows.
Additionally, rabbits, guinea pigs, chickens, and cats live on our farm. Our little guests especially look forward to observing and feeding the animals, and petting the tame cats and rabbits.

Sustainability
Sustainability has been an everyday part of our organic farm for decades. Already in 1962, we converted our operation to organic-biological farming methods and continue to cultivate our meadows and fields in harmony with nature to this day. On approximately 26 hectares of grassland and 5 hectares of forest, we produce high-quality feed for our about 50 Holstein-Friesian dairy cows, which are supplied with the best hay from our own production.
Our grain also grows directly in our farm's fields. Rye and wheat are milled in our historic mill and then processed into fresh organic dark bread – from grain to finished loaf, all from our own hands. Short distances, regional cycles, and traditional craftsmanship are a matter of course for us.
For environmentally friendly energy supply, we rely on renewable resources: Our on-site hydroelectric power plant generates a large part of our electricity, while a wood chip heating system sustainably supplies the farm with heat. In this way, we combine living tradition with a responsible approach to nature – for today and for future generations.
