Charming Little Cottage

Two little beds, a table, a well, a small wooden bench in front of the cabin, and a view reaching far across the Gail Valley to the Dobratsch – that is what the Mörtlbauerhütte has to offer.  

Our small cabin offers space for 2 people (+ 1 child in an extra bed or on the couch). A cozy eat-in kitchen and a bedroom with a double bed are your holiday home. Cooking is done on a wood-burning stove, and water is sourced from the well in front of the cabin.

Holiday Paradise

The Mörtlbauerhütte is located in the Upper Gail Valley, above the village of Kötschach-Mauthen at approximately 1,050 meters above sea level. Starting points for numerous hikes, mountain tours, and climbing excursions can be reached from here in just a few minutes (Plöcken Pass, Lesachtal, Carnic Alps, Lake Wolayer, and many more).  The Mauthen natural swimming pool, the Aquarena, or the Gail (river) offer swimming options for every taste in the immediate vicinity.

Your Hosts

We, the Rieder family, live at the Mörtlbauer farm, which is about a 5-minute drive away. We run a farm here, keeping cows, chickens, cats, and ducks. We would be delighted to welcome you to our farm – we are happy to assist you with planning your hikes and excursions.
