About Us
The Moa Hütte – Rustic. Relaxing. Unforgettable. 🏔️
The Moa Hütte is an authentic summer cabin located deep in the Göriach Valley in Göriach, right in the heart of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Salzburg Lungau in the Salzburg region. Surrounded by the Radstadt Tauern mountains, you can enjoy a truly special location amidst pristine nature. Göriach is an official mountaineering village (Bergsteigerdorf) and stands for authentic alpine pasture culture, tranquility, and nature-oriented holidays.
Our summer cabin is situated in a historical cabin village consisting of 9 cabins that have stood in this sheltered spot for around 400 years. In the past, they were run by dairymaids. Today, some of the cabins are rented out to guests. Another cabin is managed and invites you in for a cozy stopover. You can reach the center of Göriach by car in about 15 minutes. The cabin village itself is car-free. Of course, access by car is permitted for arrival and departure, as well as for loading and unloading.
Rustic cabin life 📊
Our lovingly renovated alpine cabin combines traditional cabin charm with practical self-catering comfort. Three bedrooms, a cozy kitchen-cum-living-room, and a spacious hallway offer plenty of space. Cooking and heating are done traditionally with wood. Electricity is provided by a photovoltaic system. A warm outdoor shower and the traditional outhouse toilet are part of the authentic cabin experience. Your beds will already be freshly made upon your arrival.
Plenty of open space around the cabin ☀️
Around the Moa Hütte, you have plenty of space to relax. The area is generously fenced. A hammock, a charcoal grill, and several seating and lounging options are available. The car-free cabin village offers plenty of peace and quiet. Depending on their age, children can explore nature independently. At the same time, the Moa Hütte remains easily accessible by car.
Nature right at the cabin doorstep 🌲
The mountain world of the Radstadt Tauern begins right at your doorstep. Natural alpine pastures, forests, clear mountain streams, and waterfalls shape the landscape. With a bit of luck, you might spot marmots, deer, red deer, chamois, and even ibex.
From July onwards, mushroom season begins. In the forests, you can find porcini and chanterelles, among others. Blueberries and wild cranberries, locally known as "Grantn", also grow in the surrounding area. Alpine flowers and native herbs will accompany you on your paths.
Summer activities around the Moa Hütte 🥾
In summer, the Moa Hütte is an ideal starting point for hikes and nature experiences in the Salzburg Lungau. Hiking trails lead directly from the cabin into the Radstadt Tauern. A special destination is the two Landwirseen lakes, which you can reach after a hike of about 1.5 hours. Walks along the mountain streams and waterfalls, mushroom and berry picking, as well as wildlife watching, ensure diverse holiday experiences in the Salzburg region.
In summer, various grazing animals can be found on the surrounding alpine pastures around the Moa Hütte.
The local wildlife in the Göriachtal in Göriach is also particularly diverse. With a little luck, you can spot marmots, roe deer, red deer, chamois, or even alpine ibex in the wild. Thus, the wildlife of the Salzburger Lungau in the Salzburg region is naturally a part of the cabin experience.
