About Us

The Moa Hütte – Authentic. Relaxing. Unforgettable. 🏔️

Special Location in the Göriachtal 🌿

The Moa Hütte is a rustic summer cabin located at the very back of the Göriachtal in Göriach, in the heart of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Salzburg Lungau in the Salzburg region. Surrounded by the Radstädter Tauern mountains, you will enjoy a special location in unspoiled nature. Göriach is an official mountaineering village and stands for authentic alpine culture, tranquility, and nature-oriented vacations.

Our summer cabin is situated in a historical cabin village with 9 huts that have stood in this sheltered spot for around 400 years. In the past, they were run by dairymaids. Today, some of the cabins are rented out to guests. Another cabin is managed and invites you in for a cozy stop. You can reach the center of Göriach by car in about 15 minutes.

Authentic Cabin Life 🛖

Our lovingly renovated alpine cabin combines traditional cabin charm with practical self-catering comfort. Three bedrooms, a cozy kitchen-living area, and a spacious entryway offer plenty of space. Cooking and heating are traditionally done with wood. Electricity is provided by a photovoltaic system. A warm outdoor shower and the traditional outhouse are part of the authentic cabin life. Your beds are already made upon arrival.

Plenty of Open Space Around the Cabin ☀️

Around the Moa Hütte, you have plenty of space to relax. The area is generously fenced. A hammock, a charcoal grill, and several seating and lounging options are at your disposal. The car-free cabin village offers plenty of peace and freedom. Depending on their age, children can explore nature independently. At the same time, the Moa Hütte is easily accessible by car.

Dogs are also very welcome here. A dog bed for medium-sized dogs, bowls, and dog waste bags are provided.

Nature Right on the Cabin's Doorstep 🌲

The mountain world of the Radstädter Tauern begins right outside the cabin door. Natural alpine pastures, forests, clear mountain streams, and waterfalls shape the landscape. With a little luck, you can spot marmots, deer, red deer, chamois, and even ibex.

The mushroom season starts in July. In the forests, you can find porcini mushrooms and chanterelles, among others. Blueberries and cranberries (locally known as "Grantn") also grow in the area. Alpine flowers and native herbs will accompany you on your paths.

Summer Activities Around the Moa Hütte 🥾

In summer, the Moa Hütte is an ideal starting point for hikes and nature experiences in the Salzburg Lungau. Hiking trails lead directly from the cabin into the Radstädter Tauern. A special destination is the two Landwirseen lakes, which you can reach after about a 1.5-hour walk. Walks along mountain streams and waterfalls, mushroom and berry picking, as well as wildlife watching, ensure diverse vacation days in the Salzburg region.

Here, nature is not just a backdrop – it is part of your cabin experience.

Animals

In summer, various grazing animals can be found on the surrounding alpine pastures around the Moa Hütte.

The local wildlife in the Göriachtal in Göriach is also particularly diverse. With a little luck, you can spot marmots, roe deer, red deer, chamois, or even alpine ibex in the wild. Thus, the wildlife of the Salzburger Lungau in the Salzburg region is naturally a part of the cabin experience.
