The Mechtenhütte was rebuilt with a great deal of passion and personal commitment, and is comfortably and tastefully furnished. The attention to detail allows you to feel right at home. This beautiful cabin location is a central starting point for hikes on the Katschberg – both on the Carinthian and the Salzburg side. Even a trip to Lake Millstatt is easily possible, as it only takes about 15 minutes to get to the highway. Our cabin is located on a spacious private property with its own fish pond.

Here at 1,700 m above sea level, you will find peace to relax and enjoy the comfort of our cabin. You can unwind particularly well on our large seating terrace. Children are always very welcome here. They can move freely around the cabin and explore nature.

Pets are allowed.

Our products come from our own production and are refined with love. In harmony with nature, we only use natural preservatives.

From traditional Carinthian speck to salami, as well as "Glundner" cheese, butter, and cream cheese balls.

Easily digestible, homemade farmhouse bread and fresh eggs are also available at our family farm.

Our cows and calves graze all around the Mechtenhütte. The animals, who are also spending their summer holiday on our alpine pasture, will greet you warmly at the hut gate. For keen observers, a hare or a few deer can also be spotted from time to time.

To unwind and relax, you can head to our fish pond, where you can lose yourself in the blissful peace and the gentle babbling of the water. For enthusiastic fishermen, there is the opportunity to catch your own dinner.

Fully-equipped eat-in kitchen with very large dining table & sitting area, wooden stove (single-story heating), gas camping cooker, warm water, running water, large pantry, electric cooling bag (for meat); vestibule with wardrobe and shoe cabinet.
