Chocolate mint, forest & honey and yoghurt wild berry: The apartments on our farm “Bauernhof Maar” bear these names for a good reason. You’ve arrived at the sweetest holiday destination in western Carinthia: Lissis Ice Cream Farm.
Farmer Lissi Neuwirth produces more than 30 types of ice cream directly at the farm. Most of the ingredients for the ice cream are produced at the farm: milk and yoghurt from the cows, herbs such as mint from Lissi’s garden. What’s your favourite flavour? The best way to find out is joining an ice cream tasting.
🐮 The farm “Bauernhof Maar” looks back on a history of more than 400 years. It’s raising cattle - typical for the Gailtal valley.
In the farmhouse, you can learn more about the old traditions: In the spacious entrance area, where horse-drawn carts once used to pass through, the farmers sell the finest ice cream, welcome guests and sometimes kids play ball games.
The apartments are located on the first and second floor of the farmhouse. The farm “Bauernhof Maar” can accommodate up to 10 guests. Two of the apartments are furnished in a traditional farmhouse style. The apartment “Yoghurt & Wild Berry” has a classic, modern style. The right place for every fancy.

A holiday in Goderschach, Gailtal valley, stands for a holiday in a very small world. Approx. 10 houses, a tavern and a fountain - that’s our neighbourhood. There are three times as many cows as people. There’s hardly any traffic. Instead, you can hear cow bells, neighing horses and children laughing and playing.
Your Day on the Farm “Bauernhof Maar”
The garden around our farmhouse is a little paradise for our guests. Here, you can enjoy your day sitting on the wooden bench underneath the apple tree. The kids have fun playing on the play tower, in the sandpit, feeding the lionhead rabbits or cuddling with the cats. The cycle route along the river Gail (“Gailradweg”) runs right from our farm to Villach. It’s the ideal place for day trips, hikes and country walks in the Carnic Alps, to the alpine pastures and mountain cabins of the Gailtal valley. At the river Gail, you can build dams, sit around a campfire or bake bread on a stick.
If you like, you can join us during our daily tasks on the farm. We dry hay for winter, take care and milk our cows every day. We regularly visit the calves that spend their summer on the alpine pastures and bring them a tasty treat.
Kötschach-Mauthen, part of the network of Mountaineering Villages, is a 15 minutes’ drive from our farm. The town has all the amenities: coffee houses, public pools, shops and much more.

🍧🍧🍧 You Absolutely Have to Try: Lissi’s Cool Ice Cream (“Lissis kuhles Eis”) 🍧🍧🍧
Ice cream or sorbet, fruity, chocolatey or nutty, in a cone or a cup: get ready for 30 different flavours! We produce our ice cream in an “old-fashioned”, thus the most natural way: Every ingredient is added separately. We don’t use any ready-made mixtures, no pastes or powders. We adhere to the highest quality standards concerning the ingredients we use and our production method.
🍶🧀🧈More Culinary Delights from the Farm 🍶🧀🧈
On request, we also provide you with home-made yoghurt or cream cheese. You can get fresh milk from the barn every day. Every second day, the local baker comes to our farm and brings delicious bread rolls.
Try cheese from the mountain cabin “Straniger-Alm” and our smoked meat products - dried sausage and bacon. A must for every hike!

Our farm is home to 50 head of Fleckvieh, a cattle breed. 22 of them are dairy cows. They produce high-quality milk for us. The rest of them are young female cattle and calves. They are busy eating and growing.
🐴🐴We are happy to accommodate two old ladies on our farm: our Haflinger mares Gusti (26) and Goldi (21). They are no more at an awkward age. They’re always in for a ride!
🐰🐰 Our lionhead rabbits love sitting in their fenced area outside in summer. In winter, they live in a spacious area of the barn next to the young cattle.
