About Us
Welcome to the Hubgut in Zell am See! Your holiday begins on the very first day, the moment everyone senses the warm welcome and feels right at home.
Our hill farm lies at an elevation of 1000 meters above sea level in a part of Zell am See known as Thumersbach. With practically no traffic at all, you, your partner, your family or group will be able to enjoy breathtaking views of the emerald-green Zeller See and mighty Kitzsteinhorn.
Our charming penthouse holiday apartment accommodates up to 8 people. It features 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, and a modern, fully equipped kitchen. You will be able to take in the marvelous scenery both from our three spacious balconies with seating, as well as from the comfy sofa, gazing out through the big picture window.
It isn’t only our guests who feel perfectly at home here at our farm. Our animals lead a very good lifestyle here, too. Guests, big and small, are invited to step into the barn, pet the rabbits, collect the delicious eggs laid by our hens, help bring in the sheep with their little lambs from the field, and experience the marvelous smell of honey and propolis in the bee house.
Summer The holiday region which encompasses the Hohe Tauern mountains in Salzburger Land offers countless clearly marked hiking paths as well as variety-packed mountain biking and E-biking routes. Winter In winter, skiers find the ski resorts of Zell am See, Kaprun and Maiskogel impossible to resist. Though there is also much to experience away from the pistes as well, such as snowshoeing, ice skating on lake Zeller See, high-spirited sledding expeditions and romantic carriage rides. In winter, between late December and the end of February, winter tires are absolutely essential. If your car isn’t four-wheel drive, you will also need to bring snow chains with you since they may be needed depending on the snow conditions.
Farm products and catering
Seasonal products from our farm shop We put a lot of love and hard work into running our farm. That’s why we are so happy when our efforts are rewarded. Once the hay has been brought in, the trees have borne fruit in autumn, and we are able to deck the table with homemade and farm-fresh products, what a true delight that is. A joy we also want to share with you, in the form of homemade jams, honey, bread, eggs, bacon, schnapps and liqueurs.
Animals
Our Bees We have had beehives on our farm since 2012. Not only do the bees supply us with healthy, good-tasting honey, they also pollenate countless fruit trees and flowers, thereby making a valuable contribution to the natural cycle of things.
Our Bergschaf Sheep The Bergschaf breed originated on the mountainsides of Tyrol and is an ideal “lawnmower” for us, grazing on those meadows that aren’t accessible to us with machines. On average, we have 30 ewes here at the farm, giving birth to lambs in the autumn and springtime.
Our Pigs Our pigs Rosali and Frieda are in “hog heaven” at our farm, especially during the summer months when they have freshly mown grass every single day, and lots of open spaces to “do their thing”.
Our Hens There is no alarm clock in the world more reliable than our rooster. As soon as it gets light, he will begin to crow, sending a clear signal to us that it is time to get up and begin working in the barn. Every day, 7 hens dutifully lay their eggs. Eggs that taste especially good once the farm work is done.
