About Us
Further up the sunny slopes of Lake Millstatt, at 1,500 meters above sea level, God or the world itself—however you wish to see it—has created a very special, gentle place. Rounded peaks, lush meadows, gemstones rolling along the path, and at its feet Lake Millstatt, lying in the valley like a green jewel. And right there, surrounded by all this nature, stands the Götzfried Almhütte.
For centuries, this place was dedicated to alpine dairy farming, mountain husbandry, and thus to the livestock and their herders for the production of food. This was also the case for our Aunt Gretl, who managed and lived in the Götzfried Hütte as a dairy cabin for decades and generations.
Stefan, the young farmer at Götzfried, has now turned the original dairy cabin into a front-row seat to nature. With a great sensitivity for detail and history, but also for modern comfort and elegance, the cabin has become a place in 2025 that makes a holiday up here, high above Lake Millstatt, possible from May to October – including the most beautiful view over the Carinthian lakes and mountains.
Animals
In summer, our cows graze in complete relaxation right next to the alpine cabin. They also love this prime spot and the lush alpine meadows, thanking us with a very fine milk - a true source of life.
