We have a natural outdoor area that is good for the body and soul. Various seating options offer plenty of space to enjoy. A hammock, fountain and a special nature awareness bench await our guests.

Experience a farm

Our small-scale farm is a real treasure in the region. 8 cows, 2 calves, 2 rabbits and 2 cats live with us on Hüngen. In summer the cows move to the alpine pasture. You are welcome to help with the hay harvest. The Bregenzerwald is a special region with roots and a lot of tradition.

The Origional Bregenzerwälder farmhouse is over 300 years old. In it were created in 2022 three completely new, very well equipped and bright feel-good apartments for you.

We have a large garden with plenty of space and possibilities ... from a cozy barbecue to exuberant swinging and jumping at the tampolin. Various seating and lounging options invite you to linger and enjoy right on the farm.

We? Yes, that's Pamela and Roman with Lisa-Sophie, Elias and Paul as well as grandparents Helene and Jodok, who also live on the farm.

The location of the farm in the countryside and yet within walking distance of the town center is ideal for a car-free vacation with the whole family. Directly connected to the bike path network of the Bregenzerwald as well as walking and hiking trails through meadows and forests, along streams and to waterfalls.

From May to October you can get the guest card Bregenzerwald directly from us, which offers the free use of various offers in the region: Tourism program, public transport to the cities of Dornbirn and Bregenz, outdoor swimming pools and mountain railroads.

The Bregenzerwald is known for its handicraft, wood construction, houses with stories and architecture. It may be special to live in a traditional house of the region. But, see for yourself.

The White Gold is available directly from the farm of the Köss Schertler family in the Bregenzerwald. We are happy when you enjoy the fresh raw milk from the cow at the breakfast table.

Hay milk is a valuable food produced by small-structured agriculture, where biodiverse, with common sense and a clear commitment to animal welfare. Especially for this I started the project "White Gold" in 2020, where I show in my own small manufactory with much love and detail work, what milk can do.

In the Andelsbuch alpine dairy you can also get a wide selection of Bregenzerwald cheese. In Egg in the Bregenzerwald you can find farm products in the farm and farm stores, which can be seen at www.direggt.at.

A small sample of beer produced in Egg by the Egg Brewery is given to all our house guests upon arrival. These liquid products can then also be purchased directly on site at the brewery's ramp.

Further valuable tips on food and your grocery shopping you will receive during your stay directly at the family farm Köss Schertler.

Directly at the family farm Schertler-Köss linger all year round the rabbits, guinea pigs and cats. Occasionally, our guests even enjoy young kittens during the summer months - a very special experience.

Our dairy cattle including their young animals spend the summer on the alps in the Mellental in the Bregenzerwald. During this time, the haymaking is done on the home farm, where they are welcome to lend a hand. From September to May these cattle are then happy to be fed with the hay or to be observed directly on the pasture and in the barn on site at the Köss-Schertler family farm. You want to try milking a cow? Go ahead, at milking and barn time together with the farmer.

Experience life in the country and on the farm up close.

To experience alpine farming up close in summer, a trip to the Alpe Brongen in Egg-Schetteregg is also worthwhile. The Meusburger family of alpine farmers provides direct insights into everyday life on the alp, the animal world and alp cheese production.

Sustainable Living on the Farm

We place great importance on living and working in harmony with nature and our animals. The fundamental principle of the circular economy shapes all our actions – and this philosophy is also reflected in the design and operation of our holiday apartments.

For a sustainable energy supply, we use our own photovoltaic system for electricity generation and obtain hot water using solar energy. The cozy warmth in our holiday apartments comes from an environmentally friendly wood heating system, which ensures a pleasant indoor climate.

We focus on regional value creation: All feed for our animals is sourced exclusively from trustworthy, local suppliers directly from the village. Furthermore, on our meadows, we completely refrain from using artificial fertilizers, which ensures the naturalness of our products.

Animal welfare is an absolute matter of the heart for us: Our cows spend over 200 days a year on lush pastures and enjoy unrestricted free-range living. The meat for our own consumption comes exclusively from our own animals, which are raised in a species-appropriate manner and with great care. When selling calves, we strictly ensure that they go to good homes and always remain within Austria to avoid unnecessary transport routes.

We harvest fresh, seasonal fruit directly from our own fruit trees – for authentic enjoyment and pure vitamins that you can taste.

To protect the environment and your health, we exclusively use carefully selected, biodegradable cleaning agents for cleaning our holiday apartments.

Arriving in Vorarlberg (A), use the A14 (Rheintalautobahn) and take the exit Dornbirn Nord. At the traffic circle take the second exit in the direction of Bregenzerwald (L200). The L200 leads you through the Achrain tunnel into the Bregenzerwald. You drive through the communities of Alberschwende and Egg in the direction of Andelsbuch. Directly at the church of Andelsbuch in the center of the village, turn left in the direction of Bergbahnen Andelsbuch on Hof/Moos. In front of Felder Metall GmbH turn left again onto Heidegg and follow the road onto Hüngen until you have spotted the sign "Familienbauernhof Köss Schertler" at Hüngen 134 on the right side of the road. You have reached your destination. Welcome to the Köss Schertler family in the Bregenzerwald.

Alternatively you can reach us via Kempten/Oberstaufen (D) and the Voralpenstraße in the direction of Riefensberg and Egg or via the Hinteren Bregenzerwald coming from the Lechtal or the Arlberg in the direction of Warth and Bezau to Andeslbuch.
