At Elmaugut, you can experience authentic farm life up close: meet our animals, watch us go about our daily work or lend a hand with small tasks in the stable. There is plenty to discover for our younger guests in particular – from our animals to the many exciting winter experiences around the farm.
The Hochkönig ski area, part of Ski amadé, is one of Austria’s most beautiful winter sports regions. Perfectly groomed slopes, modern lifts and cosy mountain huts make every day on the slopes an unforgettable experience.
A ski connection above the farm leads to the family run and onwards to the valley station of the Karbachalm gondola. After a short walk, you can reach the access point and, depending on snow conditions, make your way directly onto the slopes with a little pushing. The same route can also be used to return to the farm.
There is also plenty to enjoy away from the slopes: the snow-covered landscape is perfect for winter and snowshoe hikes, tobogganing, ski touring, cross-country skiing and much more. Cosy mountain huts serving regional specialities are the perfect way to round off an active winter’s day. Those looking for peace and nature can experience the Hochkönig at its most authentic away from the busy ski slopes.
A particularly romantic winter experience is a horse-drawn sleigh ride with Anton Höllwart Sr. and our own home-bred Noriker horses. Wrapped up warmly in cosy blankets, glide through the snow-covered landscape, past wintery forests and enjoy magnificent views of the Hochkönig massif.
As a HochkönigCard partner, our guests benefit from numerous complimentary services and attractive discounts throughout the region, including one free night skiing experience in Maria Alm.With the Salzburg Verkehr Guest Mobility Ticket, you can use all public transport throughout the province of Salzburg free of charge during your stay.
Whether you are planning a family holiday, a multi-generational getaway or a trip with friends at Elmaugut you will find peace, nature, authentic farm life and countless opportunities to make your holiday active, varied and unforgettable.
The Höllwart family looks forward to welcoming you to our historic farmhouse dating back to 1679!

At Elmaugut in Mühlbach, life with animals is simply part of everyday life. Our animal residents are looking forward to meeting you and making your farm holiday a special experience.
Our two farm dogs, Dana and Fips, are among the first to warmly welcome our guests. In summer, you can spot many of our animals in the meadows around the farm. Our Normande dairy cows spend their days in the lush meadows, enjoying the fresh grass. They return to the barn twice a day for milking.
Our Noriker horses, young cattle and calves, goats and sheep also call the area around Elmaugut home. A very special member of our animal family is our Noriker stallion Zukunft Schaunitz XVIII.
Right on the farm, you will also find our cats, rabbits, pigs, peacocks and chickens, who are always happy to see curious visitors and receive the occasional cuddle.
In winter, our animals spend most of their time in the cosy barn. This is when there is plenty to do: feeding, caring for and looking after the animals is an important part of our daily farm life.
Every day at 4:00 pm, it’s time to head to the barn, where all the animals are cared for and the cows are milked. Guests are very welcome to get an authentic insight into everyday life on the farm. Children in particular can experience farm life up close by helping to feed the rabbits and cats or collecting fresh eggs.
Whether watching the animals in the meadows, cuddling our cats or lending a hand in the barn – our animal family is an important part of life at Elmaugut and makes a farm holiday a special experience for the whole family.
