Highlights
About Us
The Davidalm is located at 1,300 meters above sea level in Ramingstein in Salzburger Lungau, right in the heart of Salzburger Land. The alpine hut is situated in a quiet, secluded location on the mountain, surrounded by meadows, alpine pastures, and magnificent nature. The center of Ramingstein can be reached on foot in about 2.5 hours, while the well-known towns of Tamsweg and Murau are easily accessible by car and offer additional excursion and shopping opportunities.
🏡 Alpine Holiday like in the Old Days
Our hut in Unterlungau is not a modern luxury accommodation, but it's just right for anyone who wants to experience an alpine holiday like in the old days – without much fuss and with plenty of authenticity. Electricity and light are supplied by a battery-powered solar cell. There is only one power socket, which can only be used during daylight hours. A traditional refrigerator is not available – instead, food is stored in buckets in the cool spring trough.
The outhouse toilet and an indoor washing area are part of the rustic hut character. Smoking is forbidden in the hut, and dogs are not allowed. The Davidalm is a typical summer hut and is rented from June to October.
⭐ Highlight: No Wi-Fi, no luxury, no everyday stress – instead, true relaxation, pure nature, and time to unwind.
Important: Direct access to the hut by private car is unfortunately not possible – we will gladly take you up.
🐑 Farm Experience & Animals
At our farm, located 12 km away, you can experience daily farm life up close. The pastures are home to Scottish Blackface ewes with their lambs, Lacaune dairy sheep, free-range Turopolje pigs, and laying hens. Piglets, roosters, and our two diligent Border Collies are also part of daily farm life. Depending on the season, cows are also on the alm. You are welcome to help with farm work or join a tractor ride.
Children are very welcome. Due to the secluded location on the alm, we particularly recommend stays for children aged 4 years and older, as it's not possible to leave the alm independently. Plenty of space, nature, and animals make the surroundings the most beautiful playground.
🧀 Enjoy Farm Products
Our farm's own products are particularly popular: fresh eggs, farm bread, snack sausages, meat packages, cheese dumplings and liver dumplings upon request, liqueurs, lambskins, and much more can be enjoyed or purchased directly from the farm.
🌞 Summer & Excursions in the Area
Beautiful hikes start directly from the hut to the Klementikapelle chapel (approx. 30 min.), to Finstergrün Castle (approx. 2 hrs.), or to Gstoßelacke lake (approx. 2 hrs.). Below Finstergrün Castle, you'll find a small Spar supermarket, reachable on foot in about 2.5 hours.
✨ Unwind and feel nature - The Davidalm is the perfect place for anyone seeking peace, nature, and authentic farm life in Salzburger Land. Here you'll experience a special alpine holiday with plenty of freedom, genuine experiences, and memories that will last a long time.
Katharina & Sascha
At Davidgut, just a few kilometers away, you can enjoy many farm-produced items directly from the Salzburg Lungau region. Especially popular are our free-range eggs, fresh farm bread, and savory snack sausages. Upon request, we also offer fresh meat mixed packages of lamb and pork, cheese dumpling soup balls (Kaspressknödel), liver dumplings (Leberknödel), beuschel in a jar (lungs in a jar), and brawn (Sulze).
Furthermore, we offer homemade specialties such as herbal liqueur, Swiss pine liqueur, and baked apple liqueur. Also, our handmade lanolin and pitch soaps, lambskins, and raw wool as fertilizer are special products directly from our farm.
⭐ Highlight: Many products come directly from our animals and meadows – regional, sustainable, and crafted with great care.
At Davidgut, a few kilometers from the alpine pasture, in the Salzburg Lungau region, live many special animals that we have carefully selected. Our Scottish Blackface ewes with their lambs are true Highlanders from Scotland. They are robust, weather-resistant, and perfectly suited for life in the higher altitudes of the Lungau. Our Lacaune dairy sheep also belong to the farm and are an important part of daily farm life.
We are particularly proud of our free-range Turopolje pigs. This rare and ancient pig breed lives close to nature with plenty of outdoor space. In addition, our laying hens, piglets, and roosters provide fresh eggs daily and contribute to a lively farm atmosphere.
A very special highlight are our two Border Collies. They are not only family dogs but also diligent working dogs that help us daily with our sheep – herding, sorting, and penning them. True to our motto: „A good sheepdog is worth its weight in gold.“
Depending on the season, cows also graze on the alpine pasture, spending their summer here. This way, guests at Davidalm experience real farm life surrounded by nature.
