About Us
Welcome to our organic farm on the Jochwand in Bad Goisern!
We run a traditional farm that looks back on a long history. In 2020, we started with farming in this place steeped in history. It is still in the making.
Our organic farm Biohof Jochwand in Bad Goisern, in the picturesque Salzkammergut region was created by combining two small farms next to each other that used to be called “Koglschilcher-Sacherl” and “Brenner-Sacherl”. We are passionate about our extensive and organic farm that’s set at 800 m above sea valley, overlooking the Goiserertal valley. Together with our children Elena (9 years), Elisa (7 years) and Amalia (1 year), we are committed to fostering authenticity, biodiversity and heritage livestock breeds. Sustainability and biodiversity are of utmost importance for us.
Heritage livestock breeds that are at high risk of extinction call our organic farm Biohof Jochwand their home. All of them are dual-purpose animals. These animals have not been bred to meet economic interests, achieve quick yields and maximum productivity. Instead, they possess a range of healthy and useful characteristics. This way, we actively contribute to the protection of biodiversity and our ecosystems.
We have restored the heritage mountain farm (the “Brenner-Sacherl”) on the adjacent plot and transformed it into a holiday home. Here, you’ll find a natural retreat of 100 m² in the most spectacular setting.
Set out on a hike or cycle tour right from the doorstep, immerse yourself in the Salzkammergut region and its beautiful scenery and relax in the warm sauna after you’ve come home or take a refreshing outdoor shower in summer. We are happy to provide Nordic walking poles.

In winter, look forward to winter walks in the great outdoors, ski tours, the toboggan run “Trockentann” and, of course, the ski resort “Dachstein West” (20 km). We are happy to provide snow saucers and 2 pairs of snow shoes on request.

Kunekune pigs
Originally from New Zealand, Kunekune pigs (Maori for “fat and round”) grow very slowly. Our three sows are friendly and curious.
Sulmtaler chicken
This double-purpose breed can withstand extreme conditions. They have a very efficient metabolism and love to scratch on our meadows. Our flock of chicken consists of different breeds.
Blobe goats
Our goats are sturdy, have horns and move around in mountainous terrain without any problems. The Blobe goat is one of the oldest goat breeds to be found in the mountains. These friendly and curious animals are very hardy and can deal with extreme conditions.
More Animals
Our farm is home to 2 cats. The yellow-bellied toad, a threatened species, finds a habitat in our natural pond. The streams next to the chalet (which used to be a farm) are home to the protected stone crayfish.
