Büchlhof – Zeit.zum.Leben

Our main product is our fresh organic milk. We supply private customers in the next village as well as a dairy.

In autumn we pick our apples and pears to produce sweet organic must (apple-pear juice). Some of the fruit are used to make schnapps.

The Dirndl (cornelian cherry), famous in the Pielachtal valley, is an important tradition for us too. The ripe fruit is collected using cloths and processed to make jam, juices and schnapps.

Fruits from the garden such as strawberries, kiwis, cherries, blackberries and elder are processed by us to make jam.

Likewise our farm produces seasonal fruits and vegetables which,  if available, we are happy to offer our guests. Numerous fresh herbs can be found in our kitchen garden.

In summer our cows are on the pasture right  next to  the farm and are taken into the stables twice a day for milking. The young cattle remain on the other side of the valley, which is a short walk away, for the entire summer. In winter our cattle remain in the barns, but are let outside at intervals. 

The sheep and goats  occupy the  pastures around the guesthouse and are more or less always hungry. They love to nibble the new shoots of our young fruit trees - which we frown upon!  They are free to go into the stables or onto the pasture independently any time.

Our cats can't be missed, as they always find the cosiest spots on the farm. Like clockwork they gather at the cowshed when we milk the cows, as they know their feeding time all too well. We don't have any kittens on the farm, as the vet has neutered all the cats since it became more and more difficult to accommodate their young appropriately.

Unfortunately, since the summer of 2012, we do not have a dog any more, but we'll see how much longer that lasts.
