Bacherhütte

Our quaint cabin lies at 1400 m over sea level high over Lake Millstaetter. Our cows graze on the Bacher alm with their calves every summer from the middle of June through the middle of September. Twice a day the farmer arrives to milk them which takes place on the first floor of the cabin. The second floor is reserved for the visitors. 
The small alm cabin for two includes a kitchenette, sleeping area with 2 beds and toilet (accessible only from the outside). There is no shower inside the cabin, however, there is a small well and a grilling area outside. Electricity is generated by solar. Running cold water is available. Fresh spring water is available from the well directly outside the cabin.  The solar-generated electricity is sufficient to charge your cell phone. The cabin is located approx. 3 km from the farm where you can load up on any supplies you might need, all organically grown.

Since the cows are milked on the alm every day the dairy equipment located next to the cabin runs at 6:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. every day. 
The equipment can be clearly heard in the alm cabin. Your reward is the fresh milk you receive every day, and you can also use the farmer for breakfast service!

The approach to the cabin is via a 3 km long path (use at your own risk); if you prefer your car may be parked at the farm for the duration of your stay.

Minimum stay: 7 days

A 45-minute hike will bring you to the Lammersdorferhuette, elevation 1600 m. This is open May through November. Hikes through the area are wonderful. The view to the lake from the cabin is gorgeous - your vacation here will be a romantic interlude!

We will provide wood for snuggling at night in front of a fire.
