You've come to the right place - Astlhof in Großarl, in the Grossarltal, one of the most beautiful holiday regions in Salzburger Land. Our farm with an organic log cabin is situated at an altitude of approximately 900 m above sea level in a quiet yet central location. The village center of Großarl is just a few minutes' walk away (approx. 200m). The nearest larger town, St. Johann im Pongau, is only about 16 km away, and the Mozart city of Salzburg can be reached in about an hour. Enjoy the magnificent views of the surrounding mountains and the relaxed atmosphere of our farm.

🐴 Experience the farm & get to know the animals

On our family-friendly farm, there's a lot to discover for both young and old. Our ponies, rabbits, and cat are particularly popular. The animals love cuddles and are happy to be fed. Upon request, children can help with pony leading. A large playground with a trampoline, climbing frame, sandpit, table tennis, go-karts, and pedal vehicles ensures plenty of fun and games. The large sunbathing lawn offers plenty of space for playing and relaxing. For cozy summer evenings, there's also a garden house with barbecue facilities.

🏡 Cozy Holiday Apartments

Our two holiday apartments are furnished in a traditional Alpine style and offer plenty of space for families. Light wood and natural materials create a cozy, feel-good atmosphere. Both apartments feature separate bedrooms and are fully equipped for a relaxing holiday. Upon request, our bread roll service delivers fresh pastries directly to your apartment door daily.

☀️ Summer Holiday in the Valley of Alpine Pastures

The Grossarltal is known as the „Valley of Alpine Pastures“ and offers numerous opportunities for active holidays. Hiking trails to rustic alpine huts and impressive peaks start right on your doorstep. Mountain bike tours, family hikes, and walks through the magnificent natural landscape are also very popular. The Großarl Leisure Centre with its outdoor pool, mini-golf, tennis courts, and other sports facilities is just a few minutes from the farm.

❄️ Winter Fun in Grossarltal

In winter, the Grossarltal-Dorfgastein ski region awaits you with perfectly groomed slopes and modern lift facilities. The ski bus stop is only 70 meters from the farm. Besides skiing, winter hiking trails, snowshoeing, cross-country ski trails, toboggan runs, and ski tours invite you to varied winter experiences in Salzburger Land.

On our farm live cats, chickens, cows, a pony, rabbits, and our friendly Bernese Mountain Dog. Children especially love daily contact with the animals and can experience farm life up close. The pony and rabbits enjoy cuddles and are welcome to be fed. Upon request, children can also help lead the pony.

During the summer months, our cows spend the warm season on the lush alpine meadows in the mountains. Thus, there is much to discover and exciting insights into farm life at any time of year.

The nearest express train station is located in St. Johann im Pongau and is about 16 km from Astlhof. For onward travel, we recommend arriving by bus or taxi.
The St. Johann im Pongau – Hüttschlag bus line connects the station directly to us. The journey time from the station to the “Großarl Ortsmitte” (Großarl town center) stop is about 20 minutes. From there, it's just 200 m to Astlhof. Buses run approximately hourly during the day, and about every two hours on weekends and public holidays.
With the Guest Mobility Ticket, you can use all public transport in SalzburgerLand free of charge throughout your entire stay.
In Großarl, hiking buses, hiking taxis, and ski buses are also available, allowing you to explore the valley comfortably and car-free.
The nearest shopping facilities and eateries such as inns, the ADEG supermarket, the bakery, and the “Troadkasten” farm shop are located just 200 m from the farm.
We are also happy to offer you a fresh bread roll service directly at the farm.
Bicycles and e-bikes can be rented at the “Kendlbacher Sport 2000” sports shop, just 500 m away.
Shops, restaurants, the bus stop, and the family doctor are all reachable within just a one-minute walk.
The outdoor swimming pool, sports field, children's playground, and the Gaudi-Alm are located about 800 m from Astlhof.

The Großarltal valley is known as the “valley of alpine pastures” for a good reason. In Großarl and Hüttschlag, more than 40 cosy mountain cabins are scattered across the alpine pastures. Take in the scent of wild flowers, enjoy the breathtaking panoramic view in the Hohe Tauern National Park and stop by one of the mountain cabins after hiking.
