Welcome to the ‘Strobl-Alm’ in Zödl am Laufenberg 🍀

A special spot for your extraordinary break from daily life ❤️

Our rustic and cosy "Panorama Almhütte Nockberge" is perched at 1300 m above sea level, surrounded by gentle alpine meadows in the UNESCO Nockberge Biosphere Reserve.

This Troadkasten, lovingly renovated in 2024 and dating back to 1677, is perfect for relaxing, slowing down, and exploring the Millstättersee region through hikes, bike tours, or excursions. A breathtaking panoramic view of the Gegendtal valley, Nockberge mountains, Lake Brennsee, and Karawanken awaits you.

A favourite guest spot is the wooden terrace under the old lime tree, complete with a hand-carved larch table, barbecue, wicker swing, and hammock. Another highlight is the self-carved wooden fountain "Berg-Fried", offering crystal-clear mountain spring water.

Inside, the cosy farmhouse parlour features a crackling wood-burning stove, a spacious corner bench with a handcrafted dining table, and a nearly 100-year-old bed from the former Großglockner house for relaxing.

The attic bedroom is romantic and charming, furnished with a double bed made of oiled wild oak and an antique wedding bed from my great-grandmother Theresia, founder of the Strobl bakery in Afritz.

The fully equipped kitchen includes a retro electric cooker, oven, crockery, pots, filter and Italian coffee machines, toaster, and kettle. The fridge with a freezer compartment and hot spring water from the tap add modern comfort to this 350-year-old treasure.

The new extension, crafted from fragrant larch wood, houses a shower with underfloor heating and a separate WC.

Nature’s beauty shines daily with stunning sunrises over the Nockalm, fiery sunsets over the Karawanken, a starry sky, and fresh snow in winter.

Our rustic and incredibly cozy alpine cabin, dating back to 1677, is a true gem for your extraordinary escape from everyday life ❤️

Nestled in gentle alpine meadows in the heart of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Nockberge, it’s the perfect starting point for hikes, bike tours, ski tours, snowshoe hikes, and fun sledding adventures.

One of our guests’ favorite spots is the wooden terrace under the old linden tree, featuring a breathtaking panoramic view, a handcrafted larch wood table, a grill, a wicker swing, a hammock, and a fountain with top-quality drinking water from our own mountain spring.

In the cozy farmhouse parlor, a warm fire crackles in the wood stove. Beside the spacious corner bench with a handmade dining table, the nearly 100-year-old bed from the former Großglockner House invites you to relax. The bedroom in the attic exudes charm with a double bed made from oiled wild oak and Great-Grandmother’s wedding bed.

You’ll be enchanted by the many moods that nature bestows upon you here. Sometimes, a fluffy blanket of clouds covers the valley. At other times, a brilliant blue, cloudless sky stretches to the horizon. Witness spectacular sunrises over the Nockalm to the east and breathtaking sunsets over the Karawanken mountains. At night, marvel at the starry sky above and the sea of lights in the valley below. In winter, enjoy romantic snowfalls and freshly powdered slopes. It will make your heart soar ❤️

Arrival

Coming from Vienna, Lower Austria, Burgenland, Styria, Italy, Slovenia:

Take the A2 south motorway to the Villach/Treffen/Ossiacher See exit. From Treffen 20 km on the B98 to Radenthein. In Radenthein take the first exit on the right at the roundabout Villacherstraße/B88. Approx. 300m to Billa, after 100m take the first left, after another 150m turn right towards Kaning (Knappenstraße L18). After 4.1 km turn left over the bridge onto Bergmannstraße. After 1.2 km turn left over the bridge to Zödl-Ebene. After 1.5 km (cable car) turn left towards Oberfriessnig. Another 2.2 km to Almhütte Strobl. Arrive and enjoy:)
