Our rustic and cosy "Panorama Almhütte Nockberge" is perched at 1300 m above sea level, surrounded by gentle alpine meadows in the UNESCO Nockberge Biosphere Reserve.
This Troadkasten, lovingly renovated in 2024 and dating back to 1677, is perfect for relaxing, slowing down, and exploring the Millstättersee region through hikes, bike tours, or excursions. A breathtaking panoramic view of the Gegendtal valley, Nockberge mountains, Lake Brennsee, and Karawanken awaits you.
A favourite guest spot is the wooden terrace under the old lime tree, complete with a hand-carved larch table, barbecue, wicker swing, and hammock. Another highlight is the self-carved wooden fountain "Berg-Fried", offering crystal-clear mountain spring water.
Inside, the cosy farmhouse parlour features a crackling wood-burning stove, a spacious corner bench with a handcrafted dining table, and a nearly 100-year-old bed from the former Großglockner house for relaxing.
The attic bedroom is romantic and charming, furnished with a double bed made of oiled wild oak and an antique wedding bed from my great-grandmother Theresia, founder of the Strobl bakery in Afritz.
The fully equipped kitchen includes a retro electric cooker, oven, crockery, pots, filter and Italian coffee machines, toaster, and kettle. The fridge with a freezer compartment and hot spring water from the tap add modern comfort to this 350-year-old treasure.
The new extension, crafted from fragrant larch wood, houses a shower with underfloor heating and a separate WC.
Nature’s beauty shines daily with stunning sunrises over the Nockalm, fiery sunsets over the Karawanken, a starry sky, and fresh snow in winter.

Our rustic and very cosy "Panorama Almhütte Nockberge" is located at 1300 m above sea level, nestled in gentle alpine meadows in the middle of the UNESCO Nockberge Biosphere Reserve.
This Troadkasten, lovingly renovated in 2024 and dating back to 1677, is the ideal place for a relaxing active holiday in winter. The Nockberge mountains are a paradise for ski tours, snowshoe hikes, cross-country skiing, fun toboggan runs and lots of fun on the piste.
A fantastic panoramic view of the Gegendtal valley, the Nockberge mountains, Lake Brennsee and the Karawanken mountains awaits you.
One of our guests' favourite spots is the wooden terrace under the old lime tree with hand-carved larch table, barbecue, wicker swing and hammock.
Another special feature of our quiet retreat oasis is the self-carved wooden fountain ‘Berg-Fried’ with first-class drinking water quality from our own mountain spring.
A cosy fire crackles in the wood-burning stove in the cosy farmhouse parlour. Next to the spacious corner bench with self-built dining table, the almost 100-year-old bed from the former Großglockner house invites you to chill out.
The bedroom on the attic floor is cosy and romantically furnished. With a cosy double bed made of oiled wild oak and the antique natural wooden wedding bed of my great-grandmother Theresia, founder of the Strobl bakery in Afritz.
The kitchen is fully equipped with a retro electric cooker, integrated oven, plenty of crockery, pots and pans, as well as a filter- and Italian coffee machine, toaster and kettle.
The fridge with freezer compartment, as well as the fresh spring water that is turned into hot water from the washing-up tap, are a real luxury for the 350-year-old Troadkasten.

A2-Südautobahn to exit Villach/Treffen/Ossiacher See. From Treffen 20 km on B98 to Radenthein. In Radenthein, at the roundabout take the first exit right onto Villacherstraße/B88. Approx. 300m to Billa, after 100m first turn-off left, after another 150m right towards Kaning (Knappenstraße L18). After 4.1 km turn left over the bridge onto Bergmannstraße. After 1.2 km turn left over the bridge to Zödl-Ebene. After 1.5 km (cable car) turn left, towards Oberfriessnig. Another 2.2 km to Almhaus Strobl, Zödl 23.

Winter:
Access to the cabin is possible depending on the weather conditions. In winter, arrival is only possible with winter equipment. Preferably four-wheel drive or snow chains if necessary. Snow removal in case of snowfall is handled by Robert with his snow plow.
The region is one of the most diverse regions in Austria. Whether a sport, thermal bath or ski holiday, everyone will find something here.
