About Us

ARRIVE - and time stands still

At the ALMHÜTTE MONTAFON, in the Maisäß Buchen in Silbertal.

Time seems to have stood still in this traditional Montafon house, which is over 450 years old. The cosy parlour with its comfortably warming tiled stove is rustic. The new, large bathroom is modern and very comfortable.

Pamper yourself with a soothing sauna session. The new outdoor sauna offers a magnificent view of the impressive Montafon mountains.

Enjoy your time in the tranquillity of the hotel's own fish pond and water spring or feel the soothing effect of a walk in the nearby forest or in nature.

Feel the special and harmonious ambience of the Mongolian yurt. The round, original nomad tent lets you immerse yourself in conscious slowness. Find harmony, unwind and feel yourself again.

If you're looking for a more sociable and active holiday, BergePLUS or the Aktivpark in Montafon offer just about everything a sporty heart could desire.

In terms of cuisine, the valley also offers regional delicacies on the surrounding alpine pastures and serviced huts or home-style, international and fine dining in the inns and restaurants in the valley.

Farm products and catering

We offer you organic beef from our own suckler cows directly from the farm at the associated Landhaus Berthold in Schruns.

There are mountain pastures and farmed huts in the surrounding area as well as farm shops and farm shops in the region for your regional culinary delights. All other everyday products are available in the village centres in the valley.

Animals

The cows and their calves, which are kept as suckler cows over the winter at Landhaus Berthold, spend the early summer and autumn directly on site at the farm's own Maisäss Buchen in Silbertal (Innerbuchen). Right on the doorstep of your alpine hut in the Montafon.

The animals spend the summer on the Alpe Rona in Brandnertal and on the high alpine pasture - the Alpe Fresch near the Litzursprung - in Silbertal in Montafon.

A few fish dwell in the pond in front of the hut, and with a little luck and attention you will discover forest and wild animals as well as insects of all kinds during your stay.

The sweet pony Candy and the well-behaved Haflinger mare Ronja are at Landhaus Berthold in Schruns all year round. Guided pony rides are offered for children. And since autumn 2022, the adorable Haflinger foal Cindy has been everyone's favourite and is looked after with great joy and above all by our own children in Schruns.

We offer four holiday flats for guests at Landhaus Berthold right in the centre of Schruns.

The alpine hut with veranda consists of a large eat-in kitchen and a rustic farmhouse parlour with tiled stove including additional sleeping facilities as well as two double bedrooms. The comfortable bathroom with double washbasin and corner bath is brand new. Outside there is a sauna and the original Mongolian yurt.

Arrival

By car
Once in Vorarlberg (A), take the A14/E60 Rheintal- und Walgauautobahn motorway in the direction of Bludenz. Leave the motorway at exit 61 Bludenz/Montafon. Keep right after 750 metres and follow the B188 towards Montafon. Drive past the communities of St. Anton and Vandans im Montafon in the direction of Schruns. After Tschagguns railway station, before the Sutterlüty Ländlemarkt, turn left off the B188 onto Batloggstraße towards Schruns railway station and the town centre. Immediately after the railway station and Intersport, turn left onto Jakob-Stemer-Weg. After just under 400 metres, turn right onto Alter Hofweg. You have reached Landhaus Berthold (Alter Hofweg 3) uphill on the left-hand side of the road.

Alternatively, you can use the Silvretta High Alpine Road from the east (coming from Tyrol) via the Paznaun Valley in summer.

By train/bus
via Innsbruck or Bregenz/Feldkirch to Bludenz. There you board the Montafon railway, which takes you comfortably to Schruns. From Schruns railway station we will be happy to take you to the Almhütte.

By aeroplane
From the nearest airports St. Gallen (Altenrhein), Zurich, Memmingen, Friedrichshafen and Munich you can reach us by train/bus or the airport shuttle services.
