A Relaxing Vacation By Bus & Train to the Farm and Winery
A vacation in the heart of nature, surrounded by meadows and forests, mountains and lakes. Discover farms and wineries nestled in picturesque landscapes, yet just a short walk from the nearest transit stop.
Your vacation begins the moment you step onto a train or bus. Read a good book. Play with the kids at a leisurely pace. Close your eyes and relax. Let your thoughts wander. Time for conversation. Time to unwind. Time for each other.
Can't be done? Sure it can! 300 farms are accessible by bus and train
You wake up, open your eyes, and marvel at the mountain peaks, vineyards, or the sparkling lake outside your window. It’s hard to believe that a bus and a train brought you here!
Leave the traffic behind—you’ll be rewarded for the extra minute or two it takes. On the train, you can really make yourself comfortable while the breathtaking scenery rolls by. Just time to be.
From the train station, the bus takes you up the mountain along winding roads. The hiking bus travels along the picturesque lake. Shuttle services transport guests and their luggage right through the vineyards to the winery.
Whether it’s the Semmering Railway, the Zillertal Railway, the Wachau Railway, or a bus ride up into the Lesachtal—these are truly picture-perfect routes where buses and trains take you to Austria’s most beautiful regions!
Well taken care of at the farm and sustainable local mobility
Culinary delights are guaranteed at many farms and wineries anyway. You can enjoy the homemade products and other regional delicacies right on the farm (breakfast or half-board), order a bread roll delivery or breakfast baskets to your apartment, or sample the selection at the farm store. Sometimes you’ll even find a fully stocked fridge waiting for you!
Many regions offer special services for getting around locally: hiking buses, shuttle services, luggage transport, or affordable shared taxis will take you to your destinations or the nearest inn. Some farms offer bike rentals. A vacation like this without a car is not only good for the environment but also easy on your wallet. Guest cards often include free use of local public transportation.
You’ll find more information about regional transportation options below.
A Place to Stay
Once they arrive, they never want to leave—that’s the feeling guests often experience at the farm. Children, in particular, find countless things to do on the farm: feeding the animals, looking for ladybugs in the grass, collecting eggs from the chicken coop, and watching the farmer’s wife milk the cows. There’s so much to do!
Meanwhile, parents have time to put their feet up and read a good book. Or would you like to learn how to bake delicious farmhouse bread? Your hosts will be happy to show you!
Do you enjoy being active in nature? For hikers and cyclists, the journey by bus or train to your accommodations can already be a picturesque start to your vacation! Backpack packed? Let’s go!
