The following animals live on our farm:
Enjoy the wild herbs with all of your senses.
They spread their fragrance - fresh in the meadow or dry - when you rub them between your fingers and use them for cooking or manufacturing.
When creating your own paper, the blossoms and leaves let their colours play in the special paper and you will be able to enjoy it for a long time.
When picking them, your fingers will feel the soft blossoms and leaves.
What happens in the COURSE OF A YEAR.
During Lent I bake pretzels. They are lye pretzels and are delicious.
The palm branches are bound in front of the house using Grandfather's method and only carried into the house after the palms have been blessed. Before that, one of the children takes it three times around the house. This is an old custom and a blessing for the house and farm.
Spring is taking over the countryside!
On "dizzy Monday" (Carnival Monday) the carnival runners run past us in St. Peter am Kammersberg and surrounding area with prayer bells early in the morning. They run from farm to farm and house to house – it is a very exhausting procession and cadging custom and can be heard from far away because of the bells. A male and female farmer, bridesmaid and young man, horse groom and horse and many more follow the procession. During the performance the house and farm residents also take part.
In front of every house, a small garland is made with the broom by the men with the bells and chimes. However, if there was a death in a house, then a "silent garland" (the bells and chimes aren't rung during the race) is made.
In the evening at 7 pm the "carnival runners" have to "run in" during the prayer bells.
The carnival race custom has been recognised by the UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage.
From 30th December until the beginning of February there are four birthday children in our family. A birthday tablecloth accompanies our children. When the birthday age ends with a 5 or a 0, the name, a quote and the age are written on it. Meanwhile, it's become a "Story-tablecloth" with many a tale to tell.
In February we celebrated "CANDLEMAS" ! (2nd February)
Before, it used to be the time when the servants received their wages or changed their workplace. On this day, the candles are blessed in the church for the entire year. They are then also used as weather candles, for example when there's a storm brewing, the candle is lit and it burns until the storm's over. I'd like to tell you a story about that:
My daycare children witnessed me lighting this candle and then put it on the middle of the dining table when there was a storm. Once a storm came really quickly and it really "rumbled". Florian, one of my daycare children, then asked me: "Aren't we going to light the rumble candle?"Since then, our weather candle has been called the "rumble candle".
Let these pictures enthral you - they've bewitched me when I'm going around.!!!!!!
