Where is the bewitching aroma coming from? The kitchen, of course. The farmer’s wife is making baked apple slices, and she’s inviting you to help out. The freshly picked apples from the orchard taste delicious on their own. But they will delight your palate even more when enveloped in batter, baked and then sprinkled with icing sugar. You can sample them straight from the oven. Baking bread is on the agenda for tomorrow, and of course you can help if you like. Maybe the farmer’s wife will even let you in on the recipe, who knows?
