The Neusiedlersee region is composed of several distinctive areas, each with its own unique features. Especially when it comes to nature. The popular poster child is, of course, Neusiedlersee, which lends its name to the entire region, Austria’s biggest lake and the westernmost steppe lake in Europe. Aside from countless opportunities for sports, summer and winter, the fish of the Neusiedlersee are a true treat in their own right. You don’t have to travel to Japan to experience a glorious cherry blossom – growing on the meadows of the Leithagebirge are exquisite cherries, destined to become a variety of different products. Also well worth a visit are Castle Forchenstein in the Rosalia region, where themes such as area hunting traditions take center stage, and the Kittsee Museum of Ethnography in  the Leithaauen region. Famous far beyond our borders are the Roman quarry in St. Margarethen and the Mörbisch Lake Festival. There are so many reasons to experience this region, not least the harmonious composition of vineyards and charming villages. Modern enotecas meet romantic lanes flanked by wine taverns – the region’s wines captivate with their outstanding quality. The stork is also regarded as a symbol of the region: Though it may not deliver babies, its nests and constant chatter always guarantee a unique atmosphere.
